Something I found particularly interesting in the “Mya Renaissance” video was the architecture that the Mayans created. The structures that they built were beautiful. The structures were the largest structures outside ancient Egypt at the time. It amazes me that they can build structures so vast without the equipment that we have today. It also is unbelievable that many of these structures are still standing today because of how well they were built. It was also interesting to me how the cities were laid out according to the cardinal directions of Mayan belief. The structures were created for specific events and used as markers for the Mayans. The “El Castillo pyramid at Chichen Itza” is particularly interesting because it catches the light
Throughout the humanities course, I have been intrigued by a vast amount of information on different cultures. However, there was a particular section that truly caught my attention, and has piqued an interest in me that has caused me to do my own research aside from this paper. The culture of the Mayas, and the Aztecs has been extremely fundamental in understanding my ancestry, being that I am Mexican American. I took an interest in their beautiful architecture, their ritualistic and sacrificial religious practices, as well as their history and how they began. Throughout this paper I will outline the similarities and differences of these two cultures, as well as articulate an understanding of the humanity disciplines outlined above.
The video did a very good job at picturizing what our readings taught us. The video, Dawn of The Maya, shows how the people in the Yucatan put fire to their rainforests for more land for building and farming. This correlates with what Jared Diamond and Gugliotta stated. Both of these authors made claims that go further than the documentary how the environment affected the Maya. They talked about how long droughts affected those in the lower part of the Yucatan. All of the readings agree with the video when it comes to how advanced the Maya were. There has yet be one author that I have read that has stated otherwise. The video does make a point to say that the Maya fought bloody wars of conquest across Mexico and Central America. Many of the authors we read would refute that claim. Many believe that the wars the Maya fought were specifically for sacrifices. Sheets put is as a power struggle where there was no winner or loser because it was never ending. The Maya were not a peaceful civilization. They believed, like the Aztecs, that they needed human sacrifice for the sun to move. Unlike the readings, the documentary goes into detail on how excavation works. The video uses a ground penetrating system to see if there are tombs in the ground. The documentary goes into a lot of detail prior to the collapse of the Maya. Most of our readings start at the end while this documentary starts at the height of the Maya civilization. Which is really
According to document B the Masonry architecture required central organization, craft specialization, and political power to command a great work face. The Maya were able to accomplish all of that in a organized and efficient way. Something other than the Mayan city that the Maya accomplished that was remarkable was the Mayan calendars. According to document D the Maya developed the calendar further than any other New World people, and their calendar was the most accurate than any other of their time. Again, just that makes the Mayan calendars remarkable, but that was not it. Using the measuring sticks of remarkable the significance the calendar made was huge. In our generation these calendars impacted us humans in ways we wouldn't except. For example, causing us to think and do things because supposedly the world was going to end in 2012. Other than
Although the Maya had many great achievements, the Maya calendar was the most remarkable. It is the most remarkable because they used a common writing system and organized their lives around the calendar. The calendar also tracked religious ceremonies honoring the many Mayan gods. The Mayans really appreciate it when you are tracking their religion and when you honor the many Mayan gods.
The Mayan were very creative, self-straining, and knowledgeable. That is why I think their greatest achievement was Art. The Mayans had a lot of free-time. This explains all of the art that they created. The greatest achievement of the Maya was art.
Architecture, the basis of life for the Mayans. Architecture, specifically regarding pyramids. Now, when we think of the word “pyramid” most people will automatically think of the Great Pyramids of Egypt (we’ll get to those). But the Mayans had just as pyramids just as great. See, the technical building of the Maya pyramid was the same as the Egyptians. Both civilizations had pyramids of their own architectural design; Egypt with the well-known triangle and the Mayans with staircases. The use of slaves would help rise the pyramids from the ground, stacking, piling, pulling, and layering stone and clay. The main difference
What happened to the Mayan civilization before it mysteriously collapsed is still a mystery, but heart-stopping achievements were made. Throughout 3000 years the Native tribe of the Maya inhabited México, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras until the Spanish arrived. They were so secluded from anyone else, that they could not learn information from other tribes and they came up with all ideas themselves.(BGE) Trade routes, the creation of beautiful cities, establishing the number system and developing three calendars we all breathtaking achievements accomplished by the Mayan culture. Using scale, effort, genius, and significance four achievements will be argued about which was the most remarkable. Obviously the development
I believe the most remarkable achievement was how the Mayan were able to create and build their cities. The Maya lived in mesoamerica, part of Central America including central Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. The Mayan had over 2,500 Maya locations according to Document B in the packet The Maya: What Was Their Most Remarkable Achievement. How is it possible that the Mayan were able to make over 2,500 cities? They had populations in tens of thousands also according to Document B in the packet The Maya: What Was Their Most Remarkable Achievement. One of the largest Mayan cities had a population of 70,000.
From January 20 to 23, I went to Santa Fe and San Ildefonso in New Mexico with Dr. Laughlin and my classmates. I was totally surprised by the architecture of the housing and the rich collection of Native American cultures. I expected to see traditional suburbs but instead I found almost everyone has built houses resembling traditional adobe homes which I had never seen. Houses, businesses, government buildings including museums are almost built in this style. The colors seem to blend in with the desert. One of the most exciting events I attended in New Mexico was the museum presentation of the Zuni tribe. Although we actually did not meet the Zuni tribe, we learned a lot about them because Dawn Kaufmann who is a guide at the Museum of
I enjoy all kinds of art. When I was a kid, I went to multiple art exhibits (unfortunately, I do not have much time to do that anymore). On the other hand, I am not good at making art. In addition to enjoying art, I also enjoy history. I watch T.V. shows relating to history as much as I can. I have always excelled in history classes. In this essay, I will compare and contrast Tenochtitlan and the figurehead of Andrew Jackson. These two artifacts are very much unlike each other.
The most remarkable achievement of the Maya is their number system. However from all of their achievements I feel the less but still important ones was the cities and buildings they built, their trade network, and their calendar.
The first video is me in Battlefield 1 beta blowing up stuff with no mercy. Then I caught this soldier running, shot at him with a big boom the biggest gun I had at the time. The second video is "The Witcher 2" in this moment from the Witcher, I had. when I walked into a cave and got scared until the monsters came out, Dou watch and
The breathtaking splendor of ornate cites, the beautifully constructed grand temples, and the ingeniously developed and advanced caledretics, mathematics, and astronomy easily mark one of the most interesting and prosperous periods in Latin American history. Over period spanning approximately six centuries, the Maya of Central America reached artistic and intellectual heights that no other group in the New World had seen
We choose mysophobia, which is the fear of germs, and our video is in the talk show format. It would be half serious, half funny, so it’d be more interesting. In the show, a patient is invited to talk about how he got the phobia and talk to an expert. After that he overcomes his fear by using exposure therapy.
I'm going to explain how to make your own music video you need a song and background music a dance and cute outfits and have some provider to sponsor the video.
