     A myth is a purely fictional story that has been passed on for generations, usually involving supernatural persons, actions or events. Hercules (also called Herakles), is one of the strongest and most celebrated mythical heroes. These myths were made up thousands of years ago and have acquired more details as they have been passed down. The story of Hercules is one of a man who was so strong and courageous, whose deeds were so mighty, and who so endured all the hardships that were given to him, that when he died, Hercules was brought up to Mount Olympus to live with the gods.

Out of the 10 myths about human behavior and environmental problems the one that surprised me the most was Myth 2. In Myth 2 is discusses how “educating people—changing their attitudes and providing them with information—is an effective way to change their behavior in a proenvironmetal direction”. I believe this true, if people are aware of what is happening they will become more sensitive and may even think twice before they throwing trash on the streets. Yet I see how I have some knowledge of how to help and I sometimes do but I mostly don’t.

Mythology is being defined as a genre that the old greek gods such as zeus, Possiden and hades are beeing part of the story. Myth has been defined and manipulated throughout its usage in order to fit the desired criteria for explaining a multitude of phenomena. The usage of the word myth has steadily increased in the English language, applying to an increasing number of circumstances. Today, there exist programs such as MythBusters, where a group of hosts test classic wives’ tales and conundrums, while classifying them as myth. Quite obviously, these common misconceptions and questions do not fit the format and definition of a myth as it has been derived from the Greek mythos. Myth has come to be defined as a misconception, a distilled version of the term’s former significance. It must now be proposed that myth shall be redefined in order to provide a balance between the ancient and modern meanings. Myth in the context of modern culture needs to be redefined, shedding the connotation of connection to the divine, embracing the possibility of fewer qualifications, and allowing current cultural situations to adopt the definition of a myth without blemishing the significance of the term’s history.

Chapter 7 of Power of Myth is all about love and marriage. Because love is such a broad topic, Moyers begins by asking for Campbell to tell us where he starts, which is the Troubadours. Campbell introduces them as the founders of modern love. Campbell also tells us about how ancient love was based around sexual desire, and this is how the Troubadours are different. They set the grounds for how we think of love today.

This “standard” of beauty was set by people like the “Goddess of Love”. This Greek Goddess was known as Aphrodite. There are many aspects of christianity that cause me to wonder if the god that I have been taught about my entire life exists. The matter of creation is not one of the things that causes my doubt. Many atheists cite the proof of evolution as their reason to disprove the bible because it clearly teaches young earth creationism. They along with the majority of christians are wrong. Evolution, the Big Bang and science do not completely conflict with the bible. In order to truly understand the bible you must realize that it is not an almanac or historical account of history. It is a collection of many forms of writing that were put together to convey a message. Christians should not cling to their arrogance and continue to make preposterous claims that turn agnostics, atheists, and other theists away from Christianity. Old earth creationism is the only way that the bible should be interpreted. In this paper rather than providing science I will simply show how young earth creationist claims about the age of the earth are unfounded.
