NAACP Wants Black People to be Cautious of Flying with American Airlines
After recent events surfaced involving racial discrimination of passengers aboard American Airlines, the NAACP warned black passengers to exercise caution against the world’s biggest airline company. The NAACP claims that they have been studying the racial incidents aboard American Airlines which were reported by African-American travelers.
This led the NAACP to issue a national travel advisory black people warning them of the discriminating and disrespectful policies of the airline. According to NAACP, there has been a pattern of prejudice which has been going on for months. Now, they have finally taken action against it by issuing a warning before booking and boarding
Throughout American Airlines’ 10K the company does not discuss the current threats of new entrants to the domestic airline industry, however in the statement above
The issues between the union and the Magic Carpet Airlines are that the airlines do not pay their flight attendants duty rig pay, there is no job security, and they weren’t able to use their sick leave when they were sick. They did not agree with the way they had to give a five day notice to swap routes with other Magic Carpet Airlines flight attendants. Their major concerns were their direct wages, they wanted to be paid more and have duty rig, and have job security. These concerns were all determined by surveys that were mailed out to each of the union members, and flight attendants voicing their concerns.

In Fredericksburg in 1960 there was a protest because they still weren't letting African-Americans eat at a restaurant. Here's the story behind this. There were eight students that walked into Woodworths at 1 p.m. They took their seats as quietly as they can and started reading books but did not order. The staff suddenly put up signs saying “This Section is Closed off”. Like what the heck is wrong with those people. They can’t they just let them be peaceful and let them read their books maybe they would’ve ordered if they gave them time. The students went to each store and rotated a lot and as soon as they leave the workers reopened the counters to the whites. Like what is wrong with the blacks? The police took a look at the incident
After the Civil War when slavery was abolished discrimination and prejudice still remained. Segregation happened and African American’s were not allowed the same rights and freedoms as their fellow white Americans. Young activists like W.E.B DuBois and Booker T. Washington wanted to change the way African American’s were treated. They wanted equality and they were going to advocate for it. In 1905, in Niagara Falls W.E.B. DuBois and many other African American men met to talk about their rights and freedoms that they deserved and how they wanted to be treated equal. In 1908, in Springfield a riot occurred and stirred up more people in cause of equality for African American’s. Less than a year later they met again this time giving themselves a name. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was an organization set up to fight racial discrimination and prejudice. The NAACP wanted to help create equality for African Americans and worked to accomplish this through law suits and court battles; however, some of its member like W.E.B
The mobs would throw bombs at the bus and they would wait for the African American people at the stops and on the bus to get off so they can beat them. They had baseball bats, clubs, and metal Pipes.(Doc 4) In an autobiography by Anne Moody a social science professor she became really friendly with was in charge of Naacp activities on campus.(Doc 4) All throughout the year while Naacp conducted a boycott of all the stores downtown in Jackson. 3 African American people sat on the white side of the counter instead of going to the back to sit in the black counter.
Imagine never being allowed to go to school, eat at a restaurant or even use the bathroom. This was what countless African Americans were prevented to do on a daily basis. For many years, this type of racism was common in the United States. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP aimed to rid the nation of that racism. The establishing of the NAACP illustrates the intention of this organization. The NAACP underwent countless lawsuits to transform into what they are today. However, this association has failed a very important campaign, which was to end lynching once and for all. To further understand the NAACP, one must first learn about its founding, numerous trials, and one of its more important campaigns.
The NAACP grew rapidly starting with 9,000 member in 1917 to 90,000 in 1919 (“National Association”). This growth was detrimental to the Civil Rights movement, that involved such things as the Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas court case where the Supreme Court declared segregation unconstitutional (Mathews). The Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955 was also a case that the NAACP represented (Mathews). The NAACP continues today to “achieve equality of right and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States” (“National Association”). Without the support and inspiration from the NAACP, African Americans may never had many of the achievements in racial justice that they have in this
According to the NAACP, Mary English and Dr. Henry Moscowitz called for a meeting to converse about racial issues. Sixty people signed the call including seven of them whom were African American which was rarely seen. After their meeting they (white and black citizens) decided to initiate the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which their main goal was/is to protect people’s rights guaranteed in the 13th, 14th and 15th amendment to the United States Constitutions (NAACP). Their principal objective of this association is to ensure the “political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens of United States and [abolish] race [prejudgment]” (NAACP). In other words the NAACP was created “to protect the constitutional rights of blacks,” which was very controversial during that period (2011). This organization seeks to get rid of all racial judgment through the democratic procedures, which it would help end
Since I can’t change internal policies, all I can do is create a narrative that sheds as good a light as possible on the NAACP as a whole. For example, every member in a leadership position would need generic statements prepared just in case they behave unbecoming of a leader at the NAACP. That report along with an automatically scheduled press conference would allow the NAACP to get in front of the incident and wait a few weeks until the news loses interest. We’d essentially be in a constant state of pre-damage control. With this in place, everyone knows what will happen when a situation occurs. No room for guessing, or for an individual to make matters worse. The hope is that Americans would receive the information, process it, and feel like their intelligence was respected and acknowledged. In return, we don’t lose our customer base because we tried to hide the truth. Every social media platform would present the same information given in the press brief at the same time. The story will flood the social media scene, taper off, and everything will be operational as

African-Americans are the primary race being treated poorly. Throughout history, African Americans have gone through many hardships with being slaves and although slavery was abolished African Americans were still not granted their full freedom and they continued to be segregated from other races. African Americans hold many negative stereotypes most of which are not true. Due to these negative stereotypes, African Americans are most likely to be targeted by police and many other people for committing crimes. This is called racial profiling, and it is an issue going on around us.
Blacks have long endured the brutality of criticism because of their skin color. The Freedom Riders took on abuse and a burning bus to test the Court’s ruling, equal transportation for Blacks and Whites. Non-violent sit-ins were another step towards getting Blacks equal rights. Four African American college students walked up to a
According to MBASkool (2015), a SWOT analysis has been completed to show some of the opportunities and threats that American Airlines faces. They are listed as follows:
