With the rulebook being so outdated, many of the rules that are enforced and followed make very little sense. In addition, often the rulings are based on ancient rules over what is actually right. What is actually right appears to be done very little in many cases that involve NCAA decisions. The NCAA has suspended or deemed ineligible countless athletes over questionable rules and violations. The NCAA, which also has the power to issue sanctions to schools and programs over rules violations, issued sanctions to one of the biggest Division I football programs in the country over a questionable rules violation. They feel that while the athletes are making the university money, the athletes do not receive any cut of these profits. Opponents feel that athletes already receive numerous perks and should not receive extra compensation on top of the perks they already receive.
(Preview) Today, we will analyze how the NCAA rules influence college athletes, the pros and cons of paying college athletes, and how it can improve society as a whole.

On average, there are about 60 major NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) sport scandals per decade. NCAA sport scandals are very common in any college sport. There is always some sort of scandal going on and many schools have been part of one at some time. There are various ways for a scandal to happen, from recruiting violations to academic frauds to bribery. There are various penalties issued by the NCAA, but one penalty, known as the “death penalty” is the worst punishment a program could possibly receive. It is a penalty that can ban a team for multiple seasons, ban them from postseason play, or even ban them from the sport for life. Therefore, NCAA teams that receive the “death penalty” as their punishment are typically
Whether by creating bogus rules to increase revenue or undervaluing education at an institution of higher learning, the NCAA cares more about its own money than the wellbeing of its hardworking student-athletes. Although the NCAA’s original mission was to create an environment that would foster both academic and athletic excellence, the generation of billions of dollars of revenue has corrupted its idealistic vision.
