Napoleon Revolution Vs French Revolution

Both the French Revolution and the Napoleon Revolution served as catalysts for military changings during this era. Though not equal in contributions, they both served in establishing new ways in which current and future warfare would be conducted. In my opinion the changes brought by the French revolution were out of necessity: “the gradual adoption by the Convention of a policy that at least in theory approached universal conscription” (Paret, 1986). To accomplish the objectives associated the Revolution, more troops were needed resulting in a conscription. Furthermore, this allowed the commanders to fight more campaigns yielding greater results (Paret, 1986). Regarding the Napoleon Revolution, I see the changes brought as opportunistic.
