Imagine coming home from a long day at school and you have basketball practice in about half an hour. You’re super tired and you feel really drowsy…. Well of course the first thing that would come to your mind is take a nap. Therefore, you can recharge your body and you’ll be good to go. Now let me tell you whether it would help in your situation or not. Naps are a great way to recharge your body, but they don’t benefit you in the ways you think they do. If you lost any sleep, you can’t make up any of it by taking a nap… it messes up your wake rhythm. If you’re a heavy sleeper and you only want to take a nap for a certain amount of time isn’t going to work out for you. Well, that’s a good question I would like to know myself and now we can. According to the text, “The Secret Truth about Napping”, says that there is a habit of taking naps on the daily. Other than the habits, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, David F. Dinges, and his team have found that napping for 24 minutes, a short period of time, can reduce the amount of mistakes a tired person makes. I’d say that would help, but it still doesn’t help the fact that it messes up your sleeping schedule. If you’re napping all day or even a few hours, you’ll be wide awake so you won’t get any sleep at night. Taking naps during the day is probably 60% why you’re not being able to get some sleep at night. Your body is now ‘charged’ and ready to do some activities. The best time to take a nap is when you get home from school. Maybe eat a little snack and them go to sleep for about 10-20 minutes so when you wake up, you’ll feel refreshed.
