Game 1 of the series was a complete success as fans were treated to the best baseball from both leagues. The Pirates played well on both sides of the ball as Deacon Phillippe pitched a six hit game and right fielder Jimmy Sebring hit the first home run ever in World Series history. He drove in four runs for a 7-3 victory. Game 2 was not bad either as Boston reflected Pittsburgh's previous performance. They tied the series up when Bill Dinneen threw a three-hit game and Patsy Dougherty hammered two homers in a 3-0 win. Pittsburgh's pitching staff, full of illness and injuries, forced the Pirates to start
The Texas Rangers (73-65) came into this game just one game back of the Houston Astros in the AL West, and they looked dominant in the series so far against the Seattle Mariners (67-73). The Rangers had won two in a row and had to feel good about their chances tonight, but laid an absolute goose egg in a 6-0 defeat to the putrid Seattle Mariners. Martin Perez (2-5, 5.43 ERA) took the loss for the Rangers and Vidal Nuño (1-2, 3.25 ERA) took the win for the Mariners.
He had to finish the season 6-for-9 to beat out Matty Alou and win the first of two close NL batting-title races.
After Centenary tied game two at three, Dallas took advantage of a dropped popped up bunt. With one out and two on base, Jade Miller doubled to score the go-ahead run and put a pair in scoring position. Allie Driskill added an infield single that cleared the bases.
The sixth inning was when everything changed, as the Boom sent 10 batters to the plate, and scored five runs, giving them a 7-0 lead. Matt Piatt notched two hits and RBIs in the inning, including his leadoff home run over the right center field wall. It was his first on the season. Brandon Sedell (Nova Southeastern), Hoover and Chris Townsend (Central Arkansas) set the table for the top of the lineup when each singled to load the bases. After a pitching change, Daniel Sweet cleared the bases, with a three RBI triple to left center field. Piatt drove his second RBI in the inning in with two outs and two on, with a line drive between the shortstop and third
In game one, sophomore Cameron Guin led the Gents with three hits in as many at-bats with three RBI’s and three runs scored. He added a home run to right field in the fifth for his second round-tripper of his collegiate career.
The major league World Series has come. The games that KC Royals, Lopez’s team, have won are 3 games. The opponent team, San Francisco, have won one. One more win and the Royals are the champs… again.
The series of Colorado and LA Dodgers are tied up at a game a piece heading into the final game of this series tonight at Dodger Stadium. Pucking Hockey has a free MLB pick in this match-up and possibly a baseball prediction.
The Texas Rangers (53-53) will go for the sweep this afternoon against the AL West leading Houston Astros (60-48) at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will hand the ball to Nick Martinez (6-6, 4.01 ERA) as he will look to put together another nice performance after his last time out against the Giants. The Rangers will need a strong performance from Martinez, because the Houston Astros will turn to staff ace Scott Kazmier (6-5, 2.10 ERA) hoping to salvage a game of the three game series. Fox Sports Southwest will carry the game live locally, and MLB.tv subscribers can watch worldwide on connected devices.
Both teams have seen a number of players fall to injury directly affecting their win-loss record, and for the two teams, a number of players that are irreplaceable are still on the DL. Clayton Kershaw is the biggest name that is on the Dodgers’ DL and Mac Williams for the Giants. Both teams have shown signs of greatness during this year; the Giants were the best team heading into the second half of the season and now the Dodgers are one of the best teams heading into the postseason. Hopefully, the Giants can get out of their hiccup and the Dodgers can continue to play as well as they are. Fortunately, there are nine more scheduled game that the Dodgers and Giants will play against each other including tonight. The three upcoming games with the Giants and Dodgers will be played in LA and the next six will be in San Francisco. Players like Corey Seager, Justin Turner, Adrian Gonzalez, and Chase Utley have played great as of late and Brandon Crawford, Angel Pagan, Hunter Pence, and Denard Span have played the best as of late for the Giants. Hopefully, the Giants-Dodgers upcoming games will produce a lot of offense and maybe the Giants can come out of the slump, but the Dodgers will try not to let that happen. These players will incredibly important if each side wants to win. For the upcoming games, the starting pitchers will be: Madison Bumgarner v. Kenta Maeda
The Texas Rangers (52-53) will resume their three games series with the Houston Astros (60-47) on Tuesday evening in Arlington, hoping to build off their win last night . Jeff Banister will turn to previous staff ace Yovani Gallardo (7-9, 3.39 ERA) and the Houston Astros will counter with 26-year-old
Tonight’s game, however, could be a different story. The Cubs are sending Jake Arrieta to the mound against Trevor Bauer, and I absolutely hate that matchup. Bauer is a loose cannon, who easily loses his temper and gets in funks. Quite frankly, I’m not confident in his ability to win Game 2.
The Rangers have jumped all over the Houston Astros Monday evening, but Adrian Beltre has been on a level of his own this evening. For the third time of his career, Adrian Beltre has hit for the cycle.
The Mountaineers (17-3) scored eight runs on 16 hits. Freshman Andrew Zitel led the offense with a career-best three hits and two RBI. Freshman right fielder Darius Hill, designated hitter Ivan Vera, junior catcher Ray Guerrini, left fielder Kyle Davis and center fielder Braden Zarbnisky all had two hits.
2-1 start and have looked good in their games. Recently they defeated Martin Jones and his San Jose Sharks by a score of 7-4. The King Lundqvist was not in net for that game but is expected to be in net tonight. As we all know when the Wings and Rangers meet up, lately the games are all defense and goaltending as the offense on both sides seem to cool off. The Rangers are looking to finally get back to the Stanley Cup Finals so they can finally win it for Lundqvist. This team weakness so far this year is the lack of defense coming from their defensive players as they have had their defensive lapses just as the wings have their 2nd period mind lapses. Look for this one to be another tight played
