My family and I have a christmas tradition that involves watching movies all night Christmas Eve and open our presents at midnight. Six years ago I got a tablet. I was so excited for when I woke up a few hour later after it had been charging and couldn’t wait to use it. If I had known what I know now about what happens next, I would not be so anxious. Christmas Day 2015, my sixth grade year. I woke up and of course I was the first up of my brother, sister, mom, and dad. When I rushed to the living room to play with my present, it happened. I started coughing to the point when I collapsed. I was laying on the floor coughing out every bit of air that was in me and that is when I felt the lack of breath. A lot of stuff had happened to me, but that was the first time in my life when I thought I was going to die and the pain made me actually want to. I was alone in my house, having the worst experience of my life, and if it wasn’t for my father waking up and hearing me. He rushed to get me an inhaler, but it only helped me regain the ability to breath. I could not stand, I could not talk, I could not eat, I could barely breath, I felt like a fish out of water and I felt helpless. I was rushed to the E.R where I found out that a throat infection was the cause of all the pain, and that my weight caused the asthma attack. I had stopped caring about others opinions about me at that point, but I realized that my weight was a real problem and not a flaw in me but something that had the

To kill a mockingbird is a story about two little kids name Scout and Jem, they live in Maycomb county, which everyone there are suffering through Great Depression. Atticus (their father) is a lawyer, which throughout the story he asist a trial and helps Tom Robinson, who has been accused of raping Mayella Ewells. They accused him because of his race and Mayella doesn’t want to accept that she's the one that wanted to be with him. Harper Lee accurately argues people should not judge others by their race. We hear stereotyping everywhere and everyday.
It is curious that as children, humans have the ability to observe and remember details of specific situations and instances yet lack the ability to describe them. Truman Capote, as a grown man, took advantage of his vivid memories and composed the short work, "A Christmas Memory." The story begins in late November, a month symbolic of all the years gone by that Capote could remember beginning preparations for Christmas fruitcakes.
“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom,” Marcel Proust said. This quote suggests how being grateful for the people that you feel close to, will make you feel happier. A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote takes place during the Great Depression in a small Southern town. A seven year old boy named Buddy, and his friend are hit by the Great Depression. They do not have very many possessions, only basic necessities. The holidays are right around the corner so Buddy and his friend decide to make fruit cakes for all of their friends, even though they do not have much. They end up not having much money to get each other something for Christmas. In the end, they both decide that having each other is enough, and that they’re both very grateful for one other. One lesson that is taught in the story, is that often, people tend to only be grateful for materialistic things. However, in this story they’re grateful for one another. Similarly, in the short story The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry expresses the same theme of gratefulness through the development of the character traits and character conflicts. Both stories show that being grateful for the people that you feel close to, will make you feel happier.
“Why is he not here yet? He should be here by now.” Sparsit said, worried. “You actually worry about him? The way he treats you? Treats us?” Cook said. “Well… I don't know. I mean, maybe if I act worried, he may feel it in the air, and give me Christmas off. All I want for Christmas, is to be off, solely to help people in need,” Sparsit said, yawning. “I’m going to check if he has arrived.” Walking to the door, Sparsit hears a noise, so he peaks out. Without hesitation, Sparsit opened the door to let Mr. Scrooge in. Startled, Scrooge said “Sparsit?” “Yes, sir?” Sparsit replied as if it was uncontrollable. “Hurry, hurry. The door… close it.” Scrooge said, causing Sparsit to think. “Did you knock, sir?” As he said that, Sparsit knew he had messed
In the year 2008, I received my first elf for Christmas. Her name was Snowflake and she appeared with my brothers’ elves and my mom’s old childhood elf, Duende. She’s so beautiful with her velvet green dress, red and white striped tights with green velvet elf shoes with tiny bells. Every year after Thanksgiving, my elves would arrive. I have about twelve elves because I take such good care of them that Santa sends me his elves. Our family elves are extremely mischievous and do tricks every day during the Christmas Holidays. It is my favorite time of the year. Every morning as soon as I wake up, I run downstairs to see what mischievous things my elves have done. They are very smarting, witty and extremely creative. Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love Christmas carols, decorating the house with my mom, baking cookies for Santa, the smell of pine from the Christmas tree and opening presents Christmas morning.
The night of the first spirit was near to appear. Scrooge was stern but brave and patient. He waited, waited and waited, then a flash of light streaked across the colossal bedroom. There in his presence was a shining light of the beautiful spirit. Scrooge asked who was this mysterious spirit. The spirit spoke “I am the ghost of Christmas past “ of whose past spirit, scrooge said. “Your past “ the spirit once said. The spirit wandered around with scrooge of his Christmas past. At an instance they were in the hands of his old church. Scrooge said to the spirit “i remember this place” Scrooge felt something in his heart that he has not felt before in a long time, happiness. They traveled to another place that Scrooge has in his brain that stores

Over christmas break I jumped into our ice cold pool it was horrible. It felt like someone was ripping me into little pieces but also it was not that cold outside after. When we got inside we changed back into home clothes watched some of suicide squad then we got on our roof and played up there. It is a really steep roof. When I was up there I slipped and started sliding down but I caught myself before I could fall.
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love seeing the shinny Christmas lights that decorates my street and the sound of fresh fallen snow on the ground. Christmas reminds me of family, the laughter and loved we shared, and the gifts we gave to each other. My house on Christmas became the center of my joy.
Many people find themselves scrabbling days before Christmas to find any Christmas tree and go to Home Depot to find the one that fits their ceiling and rushes to get it in their homes, but my family and I take Christmas tree shopping very seriously. Every year my Mom, Dad, Brother, and myself travel to Canarsie Market in Brooklyn to find our Christmas tree. It is a tradition since my whole family, including myself is born in Brooklyn. We travel around the market for hours trying to find the perfect tree. We find ourselves splitting up in different rows and calling out when we think one of us has seen a tree that is attractive and has a good height. We constantly find ourselves asking workers if there are any Douglas or Noble fir trees available
The months of Thanksgiving and Christmas are suppose to be our favorite times of the year. The things that I have experienced made me think otherwise. These were the two years that I have lost a loved one. In 2013 it was my brother, and in 2015 it was my grandfather. No one would have ever thought that something like this would happen. The two coldest winters brought me unexpected turns that made me prepare for the worst.
I think Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays. Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes.
Twas the night before Christmas, pale and yellow moonlight illuminated a house deep in the woods. Tall pine trees surrounded the house, like giants pointing at the inky black sky. Flurries of snowflakes swirled in a hurry around the house. The house stood alone and abandoned, adorned with Christmas lights, but not the ones you would see on any ordinary house. Some lights were fading, once bright and colorful but now a former shell of what they once been. Others burned out in a spark while the ones left were shattered. The front door was decorated with a rug that could be mistaken as an animal. The tree inside the house was not in the most pristine condition, either. The tree slumped in a dark corner. The top of the tree stretched out like bony fingers grasping at the air. The shiny, glinting ornaments that once fashioned the tree were now shattered. The wallpaper plastered to the wall was now peeling off, like it was rotting. The paint on anything on the house was now faded and chipping away. Stale air filled with dust occupied the house. The house was indeed creepy and not in the most pristine condition. Even more mysterious, the house would only ever appear on the night of Christmas Eve. Despite this, many local teenagers and explorers were drawn to the house. Anyone who was brave enough or dumb enough would enter and see the house in its deteriorated state. One Christmas Eve night many years ago, an explorer had stumbled across the house. He had been in the snow for what
