Last summer I went to Joshua Tree with my family and another family with their daughter Faith. Joshua Tree is a vast desert with many huge rocks that we loved to climb. We had wanted to climb as high as we could, and we did. We went extremely high and it was beautiful. But although it was beautiful where we were, we wanted to climb higher, so we did. We climbed even higher, so high that… we got stuck. Faith started freaking out and I wasn’t sure what to do. I kept telling her we were fine and nothing was wrong, even though we had a long fall from where we were to the ground, and a huge wall we couldn’t climb on the other side of us. Faith started hyperventilating and I told her we would just climb down how we got up. After about 30 minutes of sitting there trying to calm her down and persuade her into coming down with me, she eventually gave in and allowed me to hold her while we went down a scary slope. After a while we eventually made it off the huge rock formation and back down to the campsite. Faith was still very scared and did not want to climb anymore, but we did have a great story to tell once we got back. My name is Juliet McKee. I live with my three younger brothers, Jaden, Jaxon, and Jemeni, my parents, Jenny and Jeff, and my dog named Jingles. I was born on February 5, 2004. In my family I play multiple roles. I am the oldest child as well as the only daughter, and I help fix problems between my brothers when they are fighting and whatnot. Also, if we are ever
Joseph Francis Girzone is a priest. Advised by his doctor to withdraw from administrative work, he immediately set about a new career as a writer and philosopher. Though only 54 years old at the time he wrote the book, his experience as a priest had been unusual. He worked with teenage gangs in New York, and in the local mining area of Pennsylvania. He taught in schools most of his life, and worked in parishes at the same time. He was chairman of a government human rights commission which settled a jail riot and mediated racial tensions in public schools. On numerous occasions, he was called upon to negotiate in prison disturbances.
The Glass Castle, by Jeannette Walls, is a memoir that catches an overview glimpse of the life of Jeannette Walls as a child maturing with her reckless family. Over the course of Jeannette’s life, there have been numerous occasions and events that she has encountered during the “skedaddle,” when the Walls moved from one place to another, that allude to her personal life. One example of an event that connects to Jeannette’s life is that of the Joshua tree, said in the beginning of chapter nine during part two . The Joshua tree that the Walls encountered was ugly and “looked scraggly and freakish” (21), which mirrors the negative toils and struggles that occur behind the scenes of the Walls family. However, the Joshua tree still grew through
On top of this, my parents always specifically looked up to me for being a leader in the house. The reason for this is, my parents knew very little English, and needed assistance with almost everything they would do. Also, I am the first child; the child that has to fall and learn from the mistakes without any older siblings advice or wisdom. Because of this, I make sure that once I learn the most efficient and effective ways of doing tasks, I then pass it down to my younger siblings. I make sure that they learn from my mistakes and accomplishments, while doing my best to lead them in the right direction to attain

What happens once “happily ever after” is over and done with? No one knows if the fairy tale dream continues or if it is over and the reality of the world begins to set in. In the play “Into the Woods”, we see a plethora of literature's favorite fairy tales woven together to teach a lesson on responsibility and getting what you wish for. This production has two separate acts to it, both distinctly different. The first act serves as a continuation of the fairy tale world that we have all come to know, this serves the purpose of immediately connecting the audience to the story being told. In the second act, the entire mood changes and turns very dark and somber. This transition of mood and overall feel of the play is primed

Tree appears dysfunctional like the Walls’ Family, but under the dysfunction is the love that succeeds on hardships, like the tree. The tree that the mother spots in the desert is metaphor of the effect the struggles of life have on each of the characters in the story. Constantly blown by wind, the Joshua tree grows sideways, “Mom, however, thought it was one of the most beautiful trees she had ever seen”(walls,35). The Walls children can be seen as one of these trees, their lives shaped by the consistency of their parents' frequent moves and questionable habits. Jeannette tries to resist at first when living in New York. Not wanting anyone to know about her past or judge her for allowing her parents to remain homeless. However her attempts
Her mom and step-dad have been together for fifteen years. Her step-dad even went through the whole rigmarole of adopting Tayler. One brother is five years old and the other is two. One time at a pool party, she was swimming and decided to go down the waterslide with her brother. As they were going down the slide it, started to sway and tip. This caused them to almost fly right off the side of it. She managed to grab the edge with one arm while she held her brother in the other, as they were going off the side. “It was really scary, but there were a lot of people around watching it all happen. So it was kind of embarrassing at the same time.”

Being the oldest child has had a huge impact on who I am today. I have to be responsible and make sure that my sisters have someone to look up to. My actions play a role on how I show off my responsibility. I am responsible in any shape, way, or form because I love it when everything around me is neat, clean, done on time, and organized. Being responsible is not an easy aspect especially when different thoughts go through people's minds when they hear the word.
