Rolling over in my bed I grab my iPhone, click the lock button, the screen reads 9:27am far too early a time for me to be waking up on my day off. I roll back over, cocoon myself in my blanket and fall back to sleep for another two hours. When I finally wake up the screen reads 11:27am, I guess it’s time for me to start my day. As I’m preparing to get out of bed my phone lights up, it’s my younger brother Juwan calling, what does her want now!!?
“Moring big girl”
“Moring baby d, how can I help you? You harasser.”
“You always sound like a man when you first wake up”
“So does your mother, now what do you want?”
“I’m telling ma, and I wanted to see if you would give me a ride in like an hour?”
“You’re mad annoying, you only call when you want something, but alright call me later when you’re ready.”
“Thanks, big girl I’ll call you in a little while.”
It seems like I can never just be lazy on my day off, all I wanted to do was eat some food, take a shower, brush my teeth, tidy up, and binge watch anime, but it seems like that isn’t going to happen. I roll out of bed and clumsily make my way to the bath room, stare into the mirror and wonder why my skin always looks like I washed it with cooking oil every morning. I shrug, walk over to the toilet, pull down my South park Mr. Hanky the Christmas poo boxers and sit. Why does taking a morning pee always make you feel like you lost ten pounds I wondered. As I went to wipe myself I noticed something didn’t feel quite right. The area
“I sat down next to my brother, Dan, on the couch and got on my laptop. He started to look at my laptop and asked what I was doing with a smirk on his face. It was obvious that he knew what I was doing so I ignored him. My homework was to type a 5 paragraph essay on what we did over the summer. As I began to write, my laptop started to glitch. It kept happening over and over as I continued to type.
At our previous class period, we had to go through a practice interview. I am happy and thankful that I did go through some interviews before in my life so I thought it was going to be a breeze, but I was mistakened. What I did noticed was this, “You will never know what you're going to be expecting at an interview.”
What I did this summer. That`s a good question to be honest, I did a lot of things that were considered fun for me, like shopping, hanging out with my family, hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, the water park and much more. But I will only break it down to two or three of my favorite things I did this Summer, so stick around to see what my favorite things about this Summer were.
“Where you going, all alone in the hood? Maybe I can give you a ride”
“Oh, next time can you please call me and tell me what you are doing.”
When Thanksgiving Break comes, the last thing anyone wants to think about is family drama, ways of speech, and slang. Days before Thanksgiving, I always find myself studying slang that I have never heard of and singing songs that I would’ve never imagined myself listening to. All to fit in with my family. I rarely see my family, but when I do, I try to make it enjoyable. My family lives pretty far away and we have always been raised in two different environments. I live in Avon, “Home of the rich white kids”, they like to say. They live on the East Side of Indianapolis, “Home of the gang violence and shootings”, I always say back. Though it is the same state, it feels like we have been raised in two different worlds.
"No, not at all, everything's fine here. I called you...for. Ah... Remember something? You promised... at the last time on phone."
November 26th, 2004, and there is a sea of burnt orange everywhere at Darrell K
Over my Thanksgiving Vacation I did a lot of stuff like cook. I got to cook some of the food but my grandma cook the Tuckey and all of the stuff that I did not like. She cooked gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole and yams. when she was done cooking all of that I cooked all of the stuff that I did like ham, mac a cheese, deviled egg, apple pie, pumice pie When we were both done cooking all of the food, it was 5:00a clock and I was so glad that I got to eat because it smelled so good. I was very hungry. When we were done eating the Thanksgiving food, we had a lot of left overs we pat I a way. Then we watched the parade on TV. We record it and it was so cute to watch
Over Christmas break, I mostly accomplished nothing. First, on Friday, I had my birthday. When I got home from the bus, I was already expected a letter from Reagan to see if I got in or not. I first went to the kitchen counter and , of course, the MPS letter was already open, suggesting my Mom opened it. On the top of the paper it showed the name of the High School that I applied to and below it, it showed the words yes or no. A surprised look came over my face when it said yes to all the high schools listed. To sums things up, I got into Reagan, Rufus King, and Hamilton high school. Next, to celebrate my birthday, my family and I went to the 5 o'clock steakhouse, which happens to open at 5 o'clock. Then, throughout the rest of the break ,
Today they came back, just like they said they would, just like I knew they would. Today was different though, unlike last time they weren't testing, they were collecting. Every 4 years the kids who are “ lucky ” enough to be ages 10 -18 at the time get to participate in the draft.
As a 7th grader in middle school, I was put into a situation where I became really good friends with people of a different nationality. Over Winter Break, a family from Japan moved into my neighborhood and just so happened that the house they were moving into was directly across the street from mine. As time progressed I began to see him outside playing baseball, a popular sport in Japan, with his dad and brother. One day I felt that I should go introduce myself to them, so I walked over and had a good conversation. All children in Japan take english classes which helps them become quite fluent. Of the two boys, one was a 7th grader, Shogo, and the other was a 5th grader, Gota. I quickly became friends with them and learned to respect
August 24, 2016, It’s the big day. First day of school! It was a big deal for me because it’s my first time attending school here at James Logan High School. I woke up early in the morning so I can get ready immediately, I don't wanna be late on the first day. When I got up, I feel like I don't want to go school and I just want to get some more sleep. Hahaha. Had breakfast then took a shower, I can't help myself from getting nervous because I'm new here, I keep thinking about what if I get lost? What if all of my classmates are good at English? What if I can't make any friends? I kept thinking about things as I get ready for school. Once I got dressed, I packed my lunch, then my father drove me to school. I tried to focus on what am I going to do. My first period is algebra, we were introduced and the teacher was nice
As I was driving home with my grandmother on the back roads of Woodcrest the Friday before Thanksgiving, I knew something was off. As we were driving home from practice after school, my grandma, whom always seemed to have a joyful and bubbly mood was acting different. She seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere. I simply brushed it away as I thought it was nothing. A few days later, Thanksgiving rolls around the corner and I notice nothing out of the ordinary, however, she then told me that her back was bothering her recently. Immediately when she said that, I remember when she told me about her constant arthritis in her back, and how she has had pains in her back ever since she was 12 years old. She had been maxed out on her morphine for years, and she described the new pain in her back as an unbearable and sharp
I remember one incredibly funny day from last year. It was the day I fell through the glass display case at school. Boy, I tell you that sucked so bad. I know for a fact I’ll never live it down. I’m known for being pretty accident prone so it was no surprise to people when they found out I was the one who had left the blood stain in the hallway.
