As a committed member of the SGA/Leadership class, I was taught to lead by example. I achieved missions to instill values of integrity, passion, and service as I cooperated that into my school and community. The class handed me the opportunity to host school-sponsored events while giving me a hands-on, authentic opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills for the future and put the skills learned into practice through the coordination of planning and implementing events. I was nominated to chair numerous committees. Through delegating tasks, working tight-knit with others, laying a foundation for rules, integrity, and values, I earned credibility. My leadership skills spoke "do as I do" and not "do what I say" which enabled others
The leadership role I’m most proud of is my participation in two mission trips. Growing up in a community near the largest city in Iowa, my first mission trip was in an impoverished area of Wyoming, the Wind River Indian Reservation. My second mission trip was in the underprivileged areas of Nashville, Tennessee. During these two trips, I learned how to give more than to receive by painting houses for those unable to, distributed food at a food pantry to those who don’t have the means to purchase food, listened and brought cheer to those injured or ill at a hospital, and read and played with children at a daycare. In all of these activities I gained the experiences that it’s always best to put others needs before my own, give back and to take action when not asked
I have had many accomplishments and times of leadership. One of my very first instances of leadership was during a Boy Scout meeting about five years ago where I led our
I have had many different situations in which I was a leadership role for many people from different backgrounds such as, Relay for Life, high school football and basketball captain, and little league baseball and softball umpire. However, he surprised me again when he said that he will not change his attitude, or the way he says things. When I interrogated him about the subject more, he said that he wasn’t lying about my haircut looking terrible and was merely stating his criticism. I was annoyed at his comments at first, but when I thought about it a bit more he wasn’t really lying and I started to question the haircut I received when I looked at it in the mirror again. In fact, when I asked for his opinions in the past he would do exactly that without bias or sugar-coating of words. Maybe the fault lies within me for taking his words as a personal attack despite knowing that he didn’t have any bad intentions. When I told him I was also sorry for asking him to change his ways, he said not to worry about it since we are
Throughout my short career, I have excelled in all the challenges I have been put into; from my co - workers thinking that I was not going or make through the organization because of my age to working myself up to being the right hand of the executive director and the organization's attorney. Moreover, I am a highly motivated, ambitious self- starter who always gets the job done. In 2010 I had the opportunity to serve the people of South America while learning simultaneously to speak a foreign language fluently. I was able to provide assistance to families that were struggling financially, physically, and mentally and help them better their circumstances. I had the opportunity to provide food, shelter, and counsel to families and individuals who could not have done it on their own. It brought me great satisfaction because I saw life styles change and families grow closer together. Being able to see people better their situation and improve their lives brought me overwhelming feeling of satisfaction and joy.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment” according to Ralph Waldo Emerson.
