This is the story on how I embarrassed myself in front of many people at my quinceañera. First off, many people may or may not know what a quinceañera is. It's a traditional mexican party that a 15 year old girl celebrates, its meaning is it's a transformation from being a young girl to a woman. This all began spring of last year. My family and I began to plan my party. We searched for decoration that corresponded to what color I chose for my party. It ended up being the color pink, although it looked more of a coral. Around two weeks later we began to do decorations, by this time the salon was already rented out and was ready to fill it with items and get everything set up. For my decorations I had made a flower bowl with pink and white roses …show more content…
I was really angry to the point where it was practicing twice a week to everyday. I arranged this at every meeting we had, so I basically took over and did everything my way. But my days of power came to an end, I received many complaints from my aunts saying that i'm too aggressive. So my mom wasn’t happy with me and they decided to do things their way.
I just stopped trying because the surprise dance is not what i asked for. I would break down because it was really stressful and my mood would be all over the place. So now a month has passed and I learned in total 3 differents dances in a month, I remembered all of them by memory . so now it was time to set up everything. Everyday my whole family would go set up a few things day by day.
For those who don’t know my birthday is on July 21st but the party was scheduled for August 5th which was two weeks after my birthday, I was not happy at all because I wanted it to be on my actual birthday. But we tried the best we could to have it on that date. Fast forward, it was July 21st and I had just turned 15! We made a little cookout just to prepare ourselves for the party. That night i had to learn a new danced which i made with my uncles and my stepdad. It was easy and simple that it only took me 3 days to learn it. Although I knew the dances and was able to keep track I still kept practicing with my damas and my uncles. We practiced for another one to two weeks just

I was up walking around everywhere and many people kept coming up to me asking for pictures so that lasted around another two hours. So it was time, I had to prepare myself mentally because there was more people than expected. I had the girls in a straight line and when the music began they danced their way on to the stage. Soon as the song began to my part I danced on to the stage with the other girls. Is was going pretty smoothly but the Dj we had messed up the parts for the music so I had to guide the girls with me to make sure everything goes as planned. The dance took around 5-8 minutes it was really short but we kind of expanded the time. The guest clapped and began to continue to party, around three hours later we had the Father-daughter dance, it was really emotional for me because he was really proud of me because I was becoming a young woman and how he would never forget the first time he held me in his arms. I was just really happy to see him on my special day. Then I danced with my mom who also cried and my godmother and my aunts and uncles, there was just a lot of dancing with my family

It took us three months to learn the routines. The songs that we are dancing to are all by Britney Spears. Everyone applauses when we finish all three dances. I am dancing with my father and we both are getting a little teary eyed. I am trying to hold it in though. The party ends at three a.m. After everyone leaves, my immediate family and friends clean up as much as we can because it was a part of our contract with the owners. I get home at four thirty a.m. and open my presents. I get one thousand dollars, jewelry, and cards that are wishing me a happy birthday. I give the one thousand dollars to my parents because I feel bad on how much they spent on the party. I didn’t really get much sleep last night due to the fact that I keep thinking about my biological
All birthdays are special. Birthdays celebrate life and the passing of time. In a young Mexican girl life, there is no birthday more important then her quinceañera. Like most little girls, I always dreamed of having a quinceañera. A quinceañera is a traditional party that most latino families celebrate when a girl turns 15. It represents how the young girl is growing up to become a woman. After many months of planning and stressing, on August 12, 2012, it was my big day! All my family & friends collaborated into making this dream come true. I still remember that day as if it was just yesterday.

In Spanish-speaking communities in the United States, girls do still have a Quinceanera, but it has to be altered in the way that it is done. My Quinceanera. What is it? Why is it so important to me? A Quinceanera is special, not only to me but to other girls also, but why? Why is a big party so important to someone? That is the thing. People usually view it as a party only. In many cases the girl that is turning fifteen doesn’t even know the significance to it. It’s more than a party. If you view a Quinceanera from a different perspective it’s actually very meaningful and beautiful.
We burst out of the door, unveiling ourselves to the crowd outside. We felt like rock stars. Everyone had to get a few more pictures with other friends as they arrived and then we filed inside. The place was decorated from top to bottom, glittered stars hung from the ceiling, white Christmas lights twinkled all around, and glimmering gowns in every color made the entire venue sparkle. As a class, months earlier, we had chosen the theme, “I’ve had the time of my life”. The girls had pulled it from our favorite movie, “Dirty Dancing”, and I think the boys just went with it. We sat down for dinner where we were served our choice of meat, with rice or potatoes and a medley of veggies. Nobody ate much though, either because of nerves, vanity, or just plain desire to get to showing off our best moves, we wanted to boogie! After about an hour the tables were cleared off of the dance floor and it was time to the highly anticipated partying. The DJ played the hottest jams of 1999 and we danced the night away. Most of the girls were in their bare feet, unable to take the pain of high heels any longer as we busted our best moves.
This year I turned fifteen and I had a quinceñera. At my quinceñera I wore a big, long, blue silky but puff dress, I had my quinceñera at a salon because I have a big family. For my quinceñera the waiters served this warm barbacoa which is a type of meat that is not spicy but on the side it comes with a somewhat spicy sauce if you want it to be spicy. They served that with steaming rice and nice warm beans and crunchy chips also so warm but smooth tortillas. I saw everyone enjoying the nice warm food, the food was delicious. Once everyone was done eating I saw that the band came in with their drums, trumpets, and more. The band played loud music and people got up and started to dance as well as me. Once everyone was done it time was time for the father daughter dance. My dad and I started to dance to a slow song I saw everyone taking out their phones and started to record us, I began to cry tears of joy. Once that was done everyone started to dance again. While everyone was dancing I went to go cut my two layer rectangular cake, my cake flavor was a fluffy red velvet cake with blue fondant and white frosting for some swirl designs. I had a lot of fun at my quinceñera and I hope every Mexican follows the tradition of doing one because they'll have fun and you only turn fifteen
Later that day, the celebration continued with a party at Eagles Banquet Hall. As the festivities started, I was so happy about the night to come. My court of honor was introduced as they led me into the celebration. We started out the night by performing a traditional Quinceanera march. It was a choreographed routine that we practiced for five months leading up to that day. My father came out with tears in his eyes and softly removed my ballerina slippers from my feet and replaced them with a pair of woman’s heels. With tears in his eyes, he grasped and hugged me so tight it was as if he didn’t want to let me go. My father and I started to dance the traditional father daughter dance. As the song was coming to the end, my father whispered in my ear, “ You’re a beautiful young woman, but you will always be my baby girl.” At that moment, tears filled my eyes and I realized how much love my father had for me. I will always remember that moment for the rest of my life.
We got there just on time, I dashed to the front where a beautiful brick wall stood with a beautiful wooden door the looked older. I made sure they were ready and that I found Marshall a seat in the front row next to wear my parents should sit. A line full of malibu blue dresses and tuxes, we soon get out que. The parents walk in first then following along bridesmaid and groomsman, then I the Maid Of Honor and Brandon the Best Man. The song changes with the nerd theme and it starts playing, coming down the aisle here comes my sister and my dad dancing and being goofballs as everybody smiled and laughed as the kids blew bubbles. She made her way to the front and dad gave away her hand. The crowd stood in silence as the groom's uncle asked to pray with him, they closed their eyes and looked to the ground and held their hands to the front of them. “Thank you god for blessing me with this honor to marry these two young souls…” he began, and finished with a “Amen” as the crowd says
