Many people have heard of NASCAR sometime in their life. It would be nearly impossible to not hear of it atleast once. It would be like someone saying they have never heard of the NBA. The problem is even the most devout fans don't know how NASCAR got to be. Many fans don't realise that moonshine played a huge role in the formation of NASCAR. It all started in 1920 when the United States outlawed the manufacturing and consumption of alcohol.
The tracks have also gone through a serious change. When NASCAR was born they raced on Sand and asphalt. The first Daytona 500 was a mixed terrain track consisting a stretch of the Daytona beach a closed portion of the highway. The history of Nascar starts way back in the day when moonshining was hitting the tipping point with all of the bootleggers buy cars and making them go faster, to get away from the police. Bootlegging started when the prohibition
to Daytona Beach in 1935 to escape the harsh affects of the Great Depression. He formed the idea that people would enjoy to watch unmodified cars race. He put his plan into action and soon he had many race enthusiasts to come watch these dangerous high-speed races. Daytona Beach became known as the place to set land speed records. The beach was filled with racecar fans from across the globe. Fifteen records were set at the beach between 1905 and 1935. In 1936 the course began hosting racing events. Drivers raced a 1.5 to a 2-mile stretch of beach as a straightaway, and beachfront highway A1A as the other. But untrustworthy promoters would leave events with all the money before drivers were paid frequently victimizing drivers. So in 1947, he decided that racing would not grow until a formal sanctioning organization was formed, there were standardized rules, and there was a regular schedule and an organized championship. On December 14, 1947 France began to talk with other influential racers and promoters at the Streamline Hotel at Daytona Beach, Florida that concluded with the formation of NASCAR on February 21, 1948. With the help several other drivers of that time, its points system and rules were written on a bathroom napkin. The sanctioning body hosted their first event at the Daytona Beach on February 15, 1948. Red Byron beat Marshall Teague in the Modified division race. The first NASCAR "Strictly Stock" race ever was held at Charlotte

From 13,000 fans during the first race 50 years ago to over 300,000 fans at a single event today, the NASCAR sport has evolved over the years in various ways. In the beginning, stock car drivers actually bought brand-new cars from dealers and went racing. The first strictly stock car race sanctioned by NASCAR in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1949 had no safety requirements for competing cars. They were true stock cars in every sense of the word, completely unmodified and in hindsight, incredibly unsafe. There were no extra or special requirements for drivers and cars that raced than there were for street vehicles. Today, NASCAR race cars have very little in common with street cars because almost every detail of a NASCAR vehicle is handmade.

While in the cockpit, the drivers depending on their flavor of driving can withstand extensive amounts of exhaust fumes and tire smoke, to having the need for a cool jacket, a shirt with tubing to pump ice water through it, to keep core temperatures down. In Formula 1, a driver must undergo up to 3.5 times gravity forces of sustained cornering force, meaning if a driver weighs 100 kilograms then they will feel 350 kilograms of lateral force, also called cornering force.
There are forty-five drivers on the NASCAR Nextel Cup; every single one of them is white. There has never been a person of color to drive a racecar in the Winston Cup or the Nextel Cup. That's about to change, or some hope it does. NASCAR'S chief operating official George Pyne has teamed up with Magic Johnson and started a program to help encourage minorities to try to race. There is one black driver on the NASCAR truck series and a couple in smaller race series down south, but to this day none are on the Nextel Cup series.
