I am greatly appreciative of this opportunity to be a part of the honored students in the National Honors Society. Ever since I learned about the prestige of this organization I wished to one day join, and seeing my two older sisters be apart of the society must have been a contributing factor as well. Through the years I have learned to take calculated risks, how to grow emotionally and spiritually, the value of hardwork, and how to learn. I take pride in who I am turning out to be, constantly finding ways to do the right thing no matter how hard it is, and never ending my pursuit for learning and improvement. I see this society as another avenue in which I can challenge myself, and set myself up for success. There are many benefits of being an NHS member, scholarships and recognition being some, but these are overshadowed by the effect of the expectations applied to students. Leadership, character and community service are all required for each member. These are lifelong skills that are sharpened within NHS. Passion is defined by the life and death of Jesus Christ. Because He laid down his life for me, I find it my duty to live for Him and through Him. All of my values are rooted in Christ and our relationship. I believe that the community service, leadership, and character of those found in the National Honors …show more content…
Without character none of the other pillars would be worth anything, because character creates motivation. With the wrong intent behind leadership it becomes manipulation, doing community service out of the wrong place is done for personal gain, and scholarship, or the pursuit for knowledge, if not out of good character and good intention will surely be misused. 1 Corinthians 13 says that if I have not love, I am nothing. Because I chose to love the Lord and I believe His word, it is clear to me that I must have a character of love before anything
I was one of the students who were rejected by National Honors Society Council during this year's selection. I would like to appeal to my rejection because I believe I am a great leader in many aspects of my life. For example, I used to be the co-leader of the preteens of my church. Because I am musically inclined, I focused more on the musical part of the group, such as weekly practices that led into our selections sang on Sunday nights. Throughout my position, I was put into a place in which I had to take over the group because the leader was going through a hard time and was slowly leaving the responsibility to me altogether. Until she decided to come back, I gave Bible School lessons, practiced the preteens every week,
For the past four years I have been an active member of the GCAA Honor Society Club.
I believe I would be a valuable member of the National Junior Honor Society because I meet many of the four pillars, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, which NJHS represents. I partake in many after extra-curricular activities such as, rec soccer, rec cheer leading, TAG, the middle school musical, district band, after school volunteering, and in the student government; service. For leadership I am in the student government for my class. My grades have never been lower than honors, and the previous marking period and this marking period I have retained high honors. I believe that I am a well-rounded person and very encouraging and helpful
Receiving the recognition as a qualifying candidate for National Honors Society gives me great esteem in accomplishment. This translates to me knowing that my hard work has paid off and one of my first steps in the leadership of this community as well as larger roles can be pursued. I believe that my time as a National Honors Society student of Carteret High School can be trusted for the benefit of our society because I have proven to possess the qualities of good character, leadership, service, and scholarship. My time awaits to provide our community with the leadership it needs while at the same time leaving an example of a great student for everyone to reflect on for the betterment of themselves.
Being considered for a membership into the National Honors Society is an honor. I have been recognized for my academic achievements as well as my character. I have observed the acts performed by the the NHS members in our community and I believe I can make a difference along with them. I like to think I have work hard in my academics and building character. I knew my hard work would present me with wonderful opportunities throughout life. The opportunity has arrived to join a society for the best of the best, to stand above all else in service, leadership and character. It is an honor to be considered to be a part of the National Honors Society.
Along with the research I’ve organized on this topic, I also have personal experience with NHS. As a member and president of National Honor Society, I’ve learned and experienced the amazing benefits NHS offers to its members and to the community.
National Honor Society plans to throw a football jersey fundraiser in order to prepare for the upcoming induction ceremony. This decision has lead to many misunderstandings throughout the Pella High School student body.
It is a great privilege to be considered as a member for the National Honor Society. This organization being based on grades, service, leadership, character, and scholarship is exciting to me personally because I work hard not only to achieve these principles, but to display them to others as well. I make it a point throughout my day to offer help, encouraging words, and a smile to the students that I am in contact with. I demonstrate leadership and class on the basketball court by working hard, along with exhibiting a positive attitude toward the referees, my coaches, my teammates, my opponents, and myself. This honor would mean the world to me because I strive daily to demonstrate each of the qualities that this society represents.
The Caesar Rodney School district contains opportunities for all students of different backgrounds. When entering their school for the first time, one instantly knows that the school is their new home away from home. From the moment I entered the district in 7th grade, I understood that the school was behind me every step of the way. As a result, I have become not only more educated, but a more connected person to my teachers, my peers, and my activities. The National Honor Society offers me an opportunity to provide for my school what the school provided for me. Each of the four pillars in NHS, Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service, have influenced the decisions I make and the new choices ahead of me.
The greatest component to a successful small town is citizens working together. As a result of our cohesive citizens, our town displays a stellar community within itself. A small town lives and dies by citizenship, the people who work hard, who donate their time to local works, or who hold the door for elders. Growing up, I have become more grateful towards the environment I have been raised in. Fortunately, I feel as though the small-town citizenship has rubbed off on me. Like a pig rolling in the county fair sawdust, I am grateful for the ability to learn the acts of being a good citizen.
Being in National Honors Society is something that I have always wanted to be apart of since I was in primary school. Being in it my 8th grade year was very inspiring on helping me build my citizenship goals, which later helped me get a job and be a good role model to others. 8th grade year being in NHS we had many important task to fulfill. Setting up majority of the school dances and rewarding students for their positive outlooks along with their uplifting attitudes. Leaving middle school, becoming a freshman, I knew I wanted to be a lifelong member with NHS. Knowing I had to work hard during my years in high school to get accepted back into NHS my junior year was a high school goal. When I received the letter stating I would be representing
I am greatly honored to be among the elite group of students who have been considered to be chosen as members of the National Honor Society due to an exemplary demonstration of leadership, scholarship, service, and character. To be chosen, one must show that they have attained all of these qualities through their hard work in school, as well as in extracurricular activities, and are continuously striving to improve both their school and their community. I believe that I have exhibited all of the required characteristics that define both a scholar and a leader to my teachers, coaches, family, peers, church leaders, and members of my community.
I am greatly honored to be selected amidst the commendable students who are being viewed to be future National Honor Society members. I am extremely joyous to have the opportunity to join an organization that does such incredible things for our small community. I believe that I have earned this honor due to all of the hard work and dedication that I have put into my highschool career.
Over the years I have encountered many road blocks, none of which I hadn’t been able to overcome. My freshman year I had been cut from the volleyball team after working so hard over the summer to improve my skills. I admit, I felt extremely put down by this turn of events but if that had never happened, I wouldn’t have found the sport I love more, cross country. On top of that, I received and application for National Honors Society last year, and I was ecstatic. However, when I didn’t quite make it in, there was a determination in me to find a way to better improve the skills required to qualify to be a part of this amazing group of people. Those events shaped my character deeply. I also had the amazing opportunity to go on a mission trip to
I believe anything is possible if you set your mind to it, and I live by this motto daily.
