At first I thought that it was only a program that would tour colleges but the presentations given have explained it in much further detail and has drawn me in. I feel that this program will aid me in achieving my goals by strengthening my relationship with GOD, giving me the opportunity to learn from others - both peers and elders- about life and education and how to balance it all, showing me that there are more choices in colleges other than the major and predominantly white universities, and because it will allow for myself and others hands on experience with our desired careers. I do understand that will all these benefits that I also need to give back to the program and I will do so by ; completing all given assignments for both Campus Connection and school; staying out of any and all trouble; showing up for every event dressed appropriately; and by following all said and unsaid rules associated with the
Currently I am in cross country, basketball, and track, but I have done many other sports in the past. I joined the cross country team in 8th grade in hopes of finding a new passion. I fell in love with running and decided to join the track team that same year. Basketball is a different story; I joined in 3rd grade just because my parents signed me up as most sports go when you're younger, and I struggled greatly with learning and understanding the game. I spent long summers training in my yard trying to get better. This determination helped me significantly when it became time for tryouts, as I ended up making the higher team. To this day I still have a lot of determination when it comes to sports and most things in
My life is centered around church, sports, and family. I am a hardworking, motivating, caring person. While at Forbush I attend FCA (fellowship of Christian athletes) twice a week, am an active member of HOSA(health occupation students of America), and play or manage many sports. I kept on the A/B
I am dedicated to staying involved in many clubs and programs in my school. Right now I am currently in baseball, choir, Science National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Ruckus and Rowdy, student council, and in our school musical production, Footloose, as a main acting role. My most prominent
In my CEPD 3200: Skills and Ethics in Human Services course, I had to complete three hours of service learning in a facility of my choice. For my Service Learning Project, I volunteered at Southern Hills Christian Church, a local church that my family attends. Southern Hills Christian Church has a church service for children in Kindergarten-3rd grade called “All Stars”, which is where I completed my service learning hours. I chose to complete my hours at the church in the children’s department because I have an interest in wanting to work with children as a career. Also, I am an active volunteer at my church, so I did not need to go through any background checks, paperwork, etc. The following is what I did while completing my service learning hours, what I learned, and how I can apply this into the real world.
I’m seventeen years old and i’m a senior attending Weslaco East High School. Some interests i love doing is playing sports. Growing up I came from a very outgoing family, we usually played outside or went camping.
My freshman year service work consisted of volunteering through Project LOL at the Toussaint Academy and fundraising with the Andy Paul Sanchez Foundation. I completed a total of 16.5 direct service hours at the Toussaint Academy and 10 indirect hours fundraising with the Andy Paul Sanchez Foundation. I began volunteering at the Toussaint Academy at the start of the year and completed a series of visits in May. I have been involved with the Andy Paul Sanchez Foundation since it began, but I volunteered at multiple golf tournaments in effort to fundraise. Being able to volunteer at both the Toussaint Academy and the Andy Paul Sanchez Foundation was a blessing and brought me closer to many new people.
Being able to become a part of this program would be such an honor to me, i've heard and seen many great things that students in Leadership Hot Springs have done for our community and what the program has done for them. Were I given the opportunity to become a member of the program I feel I could put the leadership skills I have to a good use in helping our community
I would say that I have about 10 service hours right now. I remember it being said that families we adopted for Christmas counted as five. If this is incorrect, I have only five service hours from a food, clothing, and toy giveaway that I did at my church during December, my group being some of my fellow church members. Furthermore, I do need to begin developing my actual service project. I understand that I can’t fully be a leader when it comes to serving the community if I don’t actually start a service project on my own. The main two factors that are limiting me right now from doing more service hours and creating a service project is debate and ACT prep class. The classes and the debate tournaments fall on weekends. Weekends are
My school is full of talented, diligent, intelligent individuals. My school offers all students opportunities associate with many activities. Greetings! This is Alexander Giaphat Ho, a senior of Valencia High School or was. I am trying to explore a variety of colleges that suit my major. Not many have caught my eye but this institute may expect a great amount of effort from me. I can contribute much time
One of my goals if I am part of this prominent program is to make sure the kids that come from grade 8 to grade 9 and/or the kids who join in the middle of their high school career, to not feel that way. I will make sure I approach them myself and talk to them and make them
However, I do have useful qualities for your program. I am a very hard worker and I am willing to learn and try hard. I plan to stay invested in the goals and ideals of this program, assuming I am allowed to take part in it, even after I finish it. I thrive on responsibility and human contact. However, I enjoy spending time alone and reading. I do not like to drink or take drugs, so I can cope with restrictions of that kind easily. I also can tolerate heat without many problems. I am also well organised and I believe I am pretty empathic. My friends feel comfortable telling me their problems. My school stresses working in teams and thus I am able to cooperate with others and deal with differences in working
Thank you for reaching out to me. I'm highly interested in being apart of your team in not just being a better Athlete, but a better person as well. I’m a very competitive person. I train for what i know i’m capable of doing even if it means practicing till midnight .I try to stand out and lead the team believing some obstacles were meant to be in your way. I’m currently working on my ACT score because being below Average does not satisfy me. It doesn’t define who i am, and what my tittle represent. I’m honestly proud to say I’ve came a long way. From running 15sec. in the 100meters to now sprinting a 12.3.,From being TSAA state qualifier ,from my relay being .10 of a second away from making it to state. From having 2 school record along
I’m interested in participating in this program because of many reasons. I always find myself volunteering at places that aren’t in my community and I would like to volunteer more in my own community, where I live. I feel as though my help can be used in a positive, impactful way. I have worked with kids before and I feel as though I can be a positive role model and set an example for these kids to look up too. I’m also very interested in computers. I have already learned how to use a program called storyboard my first day on the job. We are working on a storyboard project that is going to help us find our own identity and figure out who I truly am. I like to use my summers for a positive and impactful way for myself and my community. There
