Tying the knot at national parks
Planning a fall wedding? Think grand. Grand Canyon or Grand Teton National Park, maybe. Outdoor-loving couples -- and duos seeking a dramatic backdrop without a daunting florist bill -- are turning to national parks for ceremonies. "I do" locales range from Hawaii Volcanoes on the Big Island to Independence Park in downtown Philadelphia, says Carol Anthony, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service. Some parks issue fact sheets on locations, regulations and permit procedures. "There's a wedding almost every day at Shoshone Point," and there were 66 weddings elsewhere in the Grand Canyon so far this year, says Nan Stricklin, who issues the permits. "We get people from London to New Zealand. I just had a call from a wedding consultant in Australia who

Karen Brody, the minister/wedding planner of Teton Mountain Weddings, Jackson Hole, Wyo., says couples wed on river rafts, backpack trips, horseback rides, sleigh rides and float trips. "I did two weddings on dog sleds last winter. I just don't jump out of airplanes or do technical climbs up rock faces," says Brody, who has tied the knot for 80 couples in Grand Teton and Yellowstone this year. Many parks, like Grand Teton, issue permits free. Others charge nominal fees such as $ 25 at Yellowstone, $ 25-$ 80 at Grand Canyon, or $ 68-$ 192 at Shenandoah National Park. Yosemite, which charges $ 100, has issued 75 permits so far in '96, many for Bridal Veil Falls or Cathedral Beach. "People seem to feel that the structure of a church isn't what they are after. They want God's natural cathedral," says Jeannie McCamish, a minister and wilderness-wedding consultant for Sierra Weddings in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. Restrictions apply Getting married outdoors in a national park is no quick picnic. Beyond the basics -- a local marriage license, a permit from the park, a licensed person to officiate -- there are some less obvious requirements. A sampling from

Yellowstone National Park is one of the largest and oldest national parks in American history. Yellowstone was the first park to be protected by private investment on March 1, 1872, and the first to be put under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service in 1918, no doubt due to its unique and inspiring landscape and geothermal features. In fact, Yellowstone National Park is home to half of the world’s total hydrothermal features. These awesome attractions draw an incredible amount of visitors, an average of two to three million each year, to Yellowstone’s immense landscape. The park has a total size of 28,125 square miles, is found in three distinct states, and is considered to be one of the largest
The article “Canada’s national parks in ‘crisis” written by Jennifer Friesen, follows the recent report released on Thursday by the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society; the report held information about the construction and recreational development plans for Canada’s national parks. In the reports that were released, lists of private investors in Banff and Jasper were listed, who were in negotiations to create new commercial developments for tourism, that threaten the very sustainability of the parks in Canada. The primary expansions that the article discussed were those planned for the Lake Louise Ski Resort, and the new plans to increase infrastructure and capacity by

From what I had learned, Yellowstone National Park was the first national park ever to be established in the world. It had over 3,500 square miles of beautiful scenery and wildlife. The park itself was mostly located in Wyoming, however, less than 5% was located in Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone has been a park since March 1st, 1872, and since then there have been hundreds of thousands of tourists that go there each year to see the amazing things it has to offer. Old Faithful, one of Yellowstone's main attractions, is a
“The human history of the Yellowstone region goes back more than 11,000 years. From then until to the very recent past, many groups of Native Americans used the park as their homes, hunting grounds, and transportation routes. These traditional uses of Yellowstone lands continued until a little over 200 years ago when the first people of European descent found their way into the park. In 1872 a country that had not yet seen its first centennial, established Yellowstone as the first national park in the world. A new concept was born and with it a new way for people to preserve and protect

Hello Mayor Batri, and fellow citizens. I’m Talia Johnson and I’m here on behalf of the entire Local Aboriginal Community. Musgrave Park Can Not be destroyed by property developers and their ‘aspiring plan’ to reinvent Brisbane. I know that amongst us today there are good people, and I know that there are property developers. And, I’ve got something to say to you Property Developers. Musgrave Park is not a patch of grass on a large block of land, it is a crucial part of my Indigenous Heritage. We need to consider not only the Indigenous significance of Musgrave Park Past, and Present, but we must look at the true importance of Brisbane’s Green Space.
Hello all my wonderful viewers aka Mom! I am so not exited to share my dreams or um goals or hopes for my blogging season ending in early June. I am so unfortunate to tell you my English teacher made me do this. So I will tell you what I plan to achieve. I first tried to think of something to do that wasn't just 3000 page views or 10 comments. I wanted to include my topic as well, however I found that whatever I might post would either not be achievable or boring. I went with boring, sorry. I want to get a good grade and finish my goal, then barely do anything to achieve my goal. DO NOT WORRY! My goal is boring, but my blog WILL NOT BE! I want to write of the best snacks in parks, the types of disney fans, and the changes with the company.
My central idea for this topic is for my audience to be aware that spending time outdoors is important for the body and mind and helps you relieve stress more so than having not to spend time outdoors. Spending more time outdoors can be done in many ways and it is healthy for your body.
This version of the inauguration process of Yellowstone National Park outlines the impact the installment of Yellowstone had on the lives and lifestyle of its inhabiting and neighboring Native American tribes. John Colter, the first non-Indian to explore Yellowstone, was guided by the Crow, whom he set up a trade alliance with, to observe the many wonders the land contained. On his return to the east, many thought his stories, of geysers shooting heated water hundreds of feet in the air, were only meager fables and entitled the area in the west he described as Colter’s Hell. It would be almost 60 years later, after Colter’s expedition, that another brave explorer would wander into the sacred grounds. In 1872, Congress established Yellowstone
In America we are known for throwing lavish ceremonies and expensive parties to celebrate the union between two people. I’ve attended quite a few weddings and participated in one during my lifetime thus far. Most weddings in the American culture follow the same itinerary.
