Why do you want to be a part of the National Science Bowl Executive Board? *
The National Science Bowl has served as an exceptional opportunity for students to exhibit their passion while still socializing with others and attending beneficial events such as the regional and state conferences. I want to increase student membership and overall participation in the competitions by coordinating more recruitment events. I plan to involve other administrative officials in National Science Bowl events so that the organization can achieve greater heights and set new standards for itself. I have experience from serving as a captain of an academically competitive team and I plan to continue my leadership and commitment into the future. 2. I consider science as my playground where I question nature’s rules and break them to witness phenomena. The possibilities that science can offer and what scientists can conduct keeps my curiosity active in learning how I can be part of the science community. When I was informed that my mother was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, I struggled to support her emotionally and felt unknowledgeable about the disease and her treatment. To understand my mother’s treatment and how she healed, I challenged myself to excel in every AP science course my high school offered to learn the foundation of science. Throughout my science courses, I drowned many times because the concepts were demanding. However, my passion for science and my mother’s condition kept me striving on. After various science classes, I felt passion was not enough and wanted to expand my abilities in a health environment. This led me to volunteer at an

Every day in the United States hurricanes, floods, fires, accidents and other disasters happen. Once the organization is contacted, they are more than likely the first organization to respond. During hard times, the American Red Cross has a giving site where volunteers can go online and buy items to help support the victims of the disaster. For 18 dollars a volunteer can donate three blankets. For 20 dollars a volunteer can give hot meals to two people. For 2,000 dollars, a volunteer can supply a food truck that will be rushed to the victims of a disaster. 91 percent of its funds on programs support around 200 disasters in the United States daily.
As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.
I have been attending Anthem Prep for five consecutive years and I am applying the role of Freshman Class Representative. To make it more interesting for our students to get involved, Anthem Prep has been making changes to its student life and topics relating to it. Though our school has made significant progress, I believe the upcoming student government will improve our student body and their lives on campus.
The National Honor Society is reputably known for its high standards. Those that are accepted to this esteem society are rewarded with several possibilities with the added benefit of just being part of this respected club. Therefore, I am honored to be a member of the National Honor Society. Nevertheless, I intend to gain more from this club than just being an idle member. Besides enhancing my leadership skills, I believe that being the president will allow me to broadcast my countless ideas that I believe will benefit not just our club, but the whole Therrell Panther community.
