NBCUniversal is a large US entertainment and media company with many varying divisions, and is one of the two primary companies now owned by Comcast. The chief executive officer, Stephen Burke created the successful and effective Symphony tool, to essentially ensure that the priorities of the company would be given the most attention and support; making the big, bigger, in order to maximize profits. Their divisions include broadcast television, cable networks, filmed entertainment, and parks, and resorts. Every year the company rates their projects as gold, silver, or bronze status. Those that receive the gold priority are predicted to bring in the most revenue and receive the most support from the company. Under Burke’s vision, all divisions are encouraged to work together in a sort of symphony, under the single conductor of NBCUniversal. Their goal is to prioritize, trade favors, and cooperate as a single unit to prop the most important projects as high as possible, in order for the company as a whole to be most profitable (Elberse). …show more content…

Now utilizing tools like Vox, Buzzfeed Facebook, Youtube, Periscope, and Snapchat, NBCUniversal is strengthening their efforts to reach their audiences where ever they go, at all times of the day (Importance). This Symphony marketing strategy has been proven so successful that other companies, like Disney, 20th Century Fox, Chase Bank, and Microsoft are essentially renting the use of Symphony to promote their own projects with NBCUniversal’s many platforms (Ember). Even non-entertainment companies want to utilize Symphony. Car companies like, Chrysler, are also teaming up with NBCUniversal, in hopes that their partnership can expand their advertising capabilities (Lafayette).
