The career that interests me is a kindergarten and elementary school teacher. In the Nebraska Career education model, this career is under Human Services and Education, which is a match with my NCC assessment results. At this level of education you teach them the basic subjects, such as reading and mathematics. In addition to the basics you will also help them learn social skills, such as sharing and communicating with others. Although children at this age are at the beginning stages of learning, their enthusiasm and energy levels are high, so it is very important to create stimulating lesson plans to keep them focused. Each lesson plan must include several areas in order to complete the standards required by the state in which you are working in. As a child, most children can’t wait to complete school and be an adult. There are a select few that realize they want to return to school, but as a teacher. A teacher commonly works regular school hours, when students are present. However, sometimes a teacher comes early or stays after school to talk or help a student, meet with parents, or consult with other teachers. Weekends may also be spent grading papers and preparing for the next lessons. A couple colleges’ in Nebraska that offer this would be UNL, costing $25,000 a year and Chadron State costing $15,000 a year. All states require this level of education to become a teacher.
