In these days, people get addicted to the technology around that we are not even realize. Although technology is very useful to us, it has more disadvantages than we think. Almost everybody in this world think that technology make life more convenient. It is true!!! But very few realize how technology is going to affect our lives. Technology affects us negatively by decreasing the ability of our brain, consuming more time, and decreasing the life skill ability.

In this world of growing technological dependence we are losing the ability to socialize without the interruptions of technology. Physiological changes, addiction, and saturation of information are just a few of the negative effects that technology can cause to anyone who has used it. Technology is, without a doubt, detrimental if it is not used in moderation.

The effects of technology usage have long been a topic of debate, with the negative consequences often being brought up. Authors such as Robert Samuels, Alison Gopnik, Nicholas Carr, Gary Small and Vorgan Gigi have all addressed this topic in their own articles. In Samuels’ “Breaking Down Borders: How Technology Transforms the Private and Public Realms,” he discusses the creation of private bubbles in public spaces due to technology, and the consequent alienation of others. “Diagnosing the Digital Revolution” by Gopnik argues that the habits that tech users have today have always existed, while Carr’s “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” states that technology is actively changing the way humans think. “Meet Your iBrain” by Gigi and Small covers how technology affects brains and alters them. This paper will use the articles and an interview with a peer to analyze the perceived negative effects of using technology, particularly worse memory, shorter attention span, exacerbation of bad habits, and shifting emotions.

Technology can be considered both beneficial and harmful to the people of the United States. It can help us connect with one other, find answers to mysterious questions, and entertain us in boring times. However, technology can also be addictive and interrupt our day to day lives. One of the biggest effects that technology has had one our country is the negative aspect.

From waking up to our alarm clocks to going to sleep with our air conditioners on we are constantly using technology. We are constantly discovering more ways to do things faster and easier. Technology has taken over our brains and society. It is without a doubt that technology has been beneficial to our lives, but there comes a point where not being able to live without it becomes excessive. It has welcomed itself into our everyday communication, our entertainment, school, and even our work.

Technology has a negative effect on society because people are becoming antisocial, technology is creating bad habits, and online problems are emerging. “Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master” (Christian Lous Lange). Imagine being in a world with no cell phones or technology, the only way to communicate is through person. In society it is easy to get caught up in society online instead of our own lives. Technology is an easy way to communicate to others, and also helpful in everyday life. Although there are many amazing things technology does for society there are negatives sides to technology. Technology can be a huge distraction in life and can blind society from the most important things in life.

Today, about 9 in 10 Americans use the Internet and 77% of Americans own a smartphone. Compare these statistics to the early 2000s when 5 in 10 Americans were online and in 2011, when only 35% of Americans owned a smartphone. Just a few decades ago, the technology we have today were merely ideas in science fiction novels or gadgets seen in a futuristic movie. There is no doubt that technology use has increased dramatically within this decade and these numbers may continue to rise as technology becomes more available to the public. As I said in my previous essay, not many people realize it, but the human race desperately depends on technology for existence. Although depending on things such as computers, cellular devices, and search engines comes with very helpful and developmental research, it has also come with many negative effects. Technology has literally affected all aspects of life for every living person. To the point where it has made people lazy, taken their jobs, and has even made people addicted to social networking. Some examples of problems are constant use of social media, texting and driving incidents, cyberbullying, and even cheating on tests or exams. I believe that we’ve become evermore negatively dependent on technology because humans now feel the need to socialize and connect with one another more frequently than they did before the turn of the 21st century.

Technology has affected our lives for the worst. It has created a multitude of problems that have yet to be resolved. These problems include a loss of identity, antisocial behavior, and a misrepresentation of experiencing life. Technology takes us away from being active participants in our individual lives and places us in a virtual and unrealistic world. Those in contact with technology, which is essentially everyone, are unaware of the deeper influence that technology has upon them. Individuals should be aware of the fact that technology has a significant impact on their lives. No one is saying to eliminate a child’s screen time completely, but everyone needs to monitor it. Tim Elmore, founder and president of the nonprofit organization Growing Leaders says, “Technology is everywhere 24/7. We are raising the first generation of kids that don’t need adults for information” (Castillo, n.pgs.). Children are relying on technology for everything now. Playing games on devices will severely affect a kid’s imagination and creativity. Kids are “no longer bound by physical limitations” (Taylor, n.pgs.).

Albert Einstein once said “ I fear that technology will surpass our interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” Many people tend to think that technology is one of the best things to ever happen , but others believe that it is starting to have a negative effect on humanity. There are many different types of technology, but the two most commonly used are cell phones and computers. Our generation is being raised alongside technological evolution. Individuals use technology everyday for many different occasions, whether it be for work, school, or just to play video games. People don’t realize that they could outside enjoying their life and having fun, but instead they choose to stay inside on their computers or cellphones. Humans are being taught that technology is the reason behind everything that is happening in society today. Technology is supposed to make life easier for everyone. Technology is continuously developing and has begun creating shortcuts for the American society. As a society we need to find a balance between our technological use and our everyday life. In my opinion, society has become too dependent on technology. The more advanced technology becomes, the more it seems to be gaining control over our lives. Young people spend 27 or more hours a week on the Internet (Anderson). As society moves on, technology will keep spreading and changing drastically. Technology can be found anywhere from phones, to cars that people drive everyday. With technology, writing a simple essay has never been easier. Although people view technology as an important tool of the future, technology can be more harmful to society as students become distracted, leading to health concerns, and influencing people to cyberbully.

People in society nowadays spend most of their time using smartphones to communicate, be entertained and obtained information in their daily life. Texting texting and social media sites have become the means in which people communicate with others. When I was a kid i had a Wii to be entertained, but these days entertainment comes by using a phone, personal device or a consuel can be easily transported, Information is spread within seconds by using social media. As you can see society is overly dependent on technology in using technology in their daily lives for three reasons, because negatively affects children, people are obsessed with buying and using advanced technology, and social media can lead to dangers for the users.

In the world, technology, is a tool that is constantly being used throughout society. With its aid, the world has made breakthroughs and discoveries which have brought advancements into the world. Although the increased ease of access to information has cause people to lose the incentive of gaining knowledge, in fact, technology has led to a more prosperous and progressive world for everyone, by providing society with higher-levels of thinking.
