Every time that we think about our past and what made a significant impact in history, we can say that the Columbian Exchange made a major impact for many people. This expansive exchange that accumulated between the New and Old Worlds has said to be a transformative time in our history and a lot came out of this exchange as well. In these times, there were many items of distribution that had been transferred between the Americas and the rest of the world. There were many significant people that were part of these times and even today we still recognize them as either influential people or ones of negative influence. Some major items that were processed was technology, farming, and weapons. People in this day of age now were becoming more advanced in creating technology for farming and travel. Some other important exchanges were animals and plants which helped people spread the use of animals for different jobs and plants for growing all sorts of foods. Of course, those are most of the positive exchanges that happened, but what was also traded were diseases. I do not know if they knew that these diseases would travel with them and especially at high levels, but it did and impacted several thousands of people. “The Columbian Exchange has brought about a revolution and evolution in creating a new species altogether. The benefits were experienced more by the New World population, which predominantly had less scope for growing products”(Crosby 2013). During these years, Christopher Columbus was traveling really not knowing where he might end up and because of him, many positive things happened that also created the New World. Following the start of this discovery, many different exchanges occurred and that included crops and animals. “The Columbian exchange has changed the modern world through the introduction of invasive and nonnative species”(Sale 1990). When it comes to the positive consequences during this time, people will always say that the food exchanges really was a big deal for the expansion of cultures.
