It has been theorized for basically as long as the Internet has been publicly available, that being online can make you seriously, clinically depressed. It’s not an assertion made without evidence, as numerous surveys of infrequent-to-addicted internet users show a positive correlation between their number of web surfing hours logged and their feelings of sadness, isolation, and alienation afterward. Some critics say that heavy use of the internet more than doubles a person’s chance of being depressed; others say that the internet might not be depression’s trigger so much as it is its refuge.

I highly recommend people read this article as it shows us facts about the damages to our brain and feelings from being on the internet or a mobile device constantly. I think people should read this because most of us are so caught up in the world of technology that none of us really understand what being on a phone for long periods of time throughout your daily life can do to you mentally. Technology and the internet is a powerful and incredible tool, but I also think that it’s taking over our world and being overused. Now that everyone pretty much has a mobile device, it’s impossible to stop the use of internet and although it shouldn’t necessarily be stopped, people should definitely check up on their daily usage of internet and games or whatever, and start to live life in the moment so that over time they don’t pick up on any mental health problems, or increase the percentage
