“It was the biggest mistake I will ever make”; “I remember every single moment”; “I killed my baby”; “You can pray and hope that you can move past it; however, that deep, deep regret inside of you, NEVER lets you rest!” These are just a handful of quotes from women who have experienced the horror and trauma of having an abortion. Not only does abortion damage a women physically and emotionally, legal abortions are damaging our population economically and physically. Abortions are the most horrific legal action that is allowed to take place in our modern society.
The word abortion comes from the Latin word “abortus” which means to disappear/miscarry. Abortion is defined as “The deliberate termination of a human pregnancy”, and is legal in most parts of the world including New Zealand. The main point people make when asked about abortion (whether they are for or against the legal killing of babies), is that it’s better for the baby to be aborted then live in an unstable family environment. This is an interesting point however, it is simply ridiculous to think that a baby will not be able to find a good home when adoption exists. In the US alone there were nearly 1,000,000 abortions carried out legally in 2014 alone (926,240 to be precise). Also in 2014, there were 1.5million families seeking to adopt a child who did not receive one. How can people say that the child would be better off dead when there are loving families out there who are seeking to adopt a child? If there
Abortion should be illegal in the United States of America. Since abortion was made legal in 1973, almost 57 million babies have been murdered by abortion. At the rate of 2,900 babies aborted a day, or 1,058,500 a year, the death toll is averaging almost double the deaths caused by the “leading cause of death” in the U.S., heart disease. These are 57 million people, who could've grown up to cure cancer, or found a reliable and abundant clean source of energy. Also, women who have had abortions almost always are psychologically affected in some form or another. These affects include, but are not limited to; regret, anger, guilt, shame, sense of loneliness or isolation, anxiety and depression, and suicidal thoughts or feelings/actions. In fact,
When having an abortion, you don’t think about what the outcome is going to be. You just think about what’s going on in that moment. People have abortions just to make people mad and not knowing that it will also affect the them in the long run. Women don’t know that the abortions will kill them or harm their body if they have to many. After, so many abortions when you do decide to have a child you are putting you and your new fetus at risk because you have damaged your insides. When it is time for you to carry your body to full term there is a possibility that your body won’t let you, because you have damaged the uterus lining too bad.
American diplomat and politician who served as the 68th United States Secretary of State, John Forbes Kerry stated, “I saw courage both in the Vietnam War and in the struggle to stop it. I learned that patriotism includes protest, not just military service.” This peaceful resistance during a time of war and confusion proved in favor of both sides and with Kerry’s quote in mind, he made a point that peaceful resistance to laws within a free society, such as America, has led to the ending of injustice acts within our country. From the multitude of marches on Washington, to the simple resistance Rosa Parks showed America, by not giving up her seat. Peaceful resistance, no matter the amount of complaints people may have towards it, puts a positive
The greatest destruction of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me. Abortion is causing many damages in the humanity. Many circumstances are causing it, and the dangers of it are being more consequent and consistent. Think about the right of the child before taking his life. To stop it we need to find solutions. Abortion is badly affecting the American society. Why not giving the child the right to taste his life?
Believe it or not, women were not always entitled to abortion. Until 1973, when it became legalized, women would terminate their pregnancies through dangerous methods. Some included back alley abortions or at home procedures. Unfortunately, most of these ended in complete disaster, leaving women injured or needing medical attention. Since abortion was an unsafe option overall, it seems that women would stop fighting for the cause, but despite the potential peril they continued their fight. The idea that abortion creates emotional scars and is a risk to women's health, is what troubles many young adults considering it.
Abortion causes mental pain in women. After abortion, women experience lots of mental pain. They can also have life long regrets. In some studies, they find that Women who “ride out” an abortion deal not only with physical pain and mental pain, but also with regret. “Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have lifelong regrets afterward”(“20 Key Arguments From Both Sides of the
Abortions can cause more negative leading affects than positive overall. With this in mind, I find myself in the midst of being against abortion. Abortion is a very controversial topic, but up until this day it’s still being discussed throughout our society, to great heights to the point where the presidential candidates were discussing it through debates. Women should be prohibited the right to an abortion because no one has the right to take another’s life, it can cause long term health risks, and alternatives are available.
Abortion has always been a controversial topic in the United States for decades. Abortion is like taking the life of someone without their permission so it is technically “murder”. There is no such thing as an unwanted child, millions of families in the United States are always willing to adopt. On the other hand, there are circumstances where a woman can barely care and sustain herself so chances are that she will not be able to take care of her child. Or when a rape occurs, having an abortion is not as bad as when a woman has sex without protection and knows she has the chance to get pregnant.
I think there should be a way out of your mistakes if you want there to be. I don’t think facing the consequences for your actions is always the best thing to do. A lot of people will argue that a baby isn’t a mistake but it is a miracle from god or just a miracle. I agree that babies are beautiful gifts. I also believe there’s a wrong and right time to have a baby. Even though your child was a surprise or an accident and everything for you turned out fine, that’s not always the case for others.
“One woman dies every seven minutes around the world due to an unsafe illegal abortion” (womenscenter.com). Women all over the world have used abortion as an alternative to having the baby in every known society, in any point in history, regardless of its legality. The reason and decision to have an abortion is never easy. Pro-Life advocates may argue that a fetus can feel pain and it is inhumane. In reality, a newly fertilized embryo cannot physically feel pain up until at least 14 weeks. People claim there are other options including adoption. But in reality, we already have enough unwanted children in this world so why bring in thousands of more children as a result of abortions being illegal? And the what about the care for the mother?
The pros of abortion can be considered only if you been rape or if the ladies who is pregnant has a high-risk pregnancy or if the ladies are having a teenage pregnancy. Rape is horrible but abortion can be so helpful to these ladies because the mothers have the right to get an abortion since they went through rape and a tough time in their lives. Not only are the lady’s victims but so are the baby because there not a punishment to their mothers. The pros of getting an abortion due to rape can help these ladies and but, this awful memory behind them and get to move on with their life’s. Many people agree that is only right to get an abortion if ladies get rape so they can avoid the trauma they got while getting rape so they can have faster recovery time. If they don’t get an abortion there just going to live with the trauma and it can affect the baby’s life and the mother life and their whole family.” A baby should not come into this world unwanted” (Abortion Pro Con). Meaning in the article that a child is a big decision that comes with big responsibilities but also stating it’s oaky to
When I first heard about abortion I was just a small child, I was about 7-8 years old. I didn’t understand exactly what that was, I first saw it in Dirty Dancing none the less a movie with Patrick Swayze. In the movie the women has an abortion but not in a clinic or a hospital in a home they used a clothes hanger to abort the baby. The woman was able to abort the baby but she got extremely sick she eventually got help and was ok. After watching that I had the idea in my head growing up that abortions are dangerous and if a women wants to abort a baby she should be able to go to a clinic and abort the baby without putting their lives in danger doing it at someone’s home.
Abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth and is morally wrong. An abortion results in the death of an embryo or a fetus. Abortion destroys the lives of helpless, innocent children and is illegal in many countries. By aborting these unborn infants, humans are hurting themselves; they are not allowing themselves to meet these new identities and unique personalities. Abortion is very simply wrong. Everyone is raised knowing the difference between right and wrong. Murder is wrong, so why is not abortion? People argue that it is not murder if the child is unborn. Abortion is murder since the fetus being destroyed is living, breathing and moving. Why is it that if an infant is destroyed a month before the birth, there is no problem,
All women deserve to be happy and be treated equally no matter what decision they have made in the past. It’s not just for women but for men too. But in this case I have noticed how negatively women get treated if they get an abortion. Abortion has always been a topic that has gotten my attention and women's rights has too. But I had always wondered what was the emotional affect of the women after an abortion . Now that I know what is the effects that society causes on women not just in the United States but Worldwide too I wanted to let people know the affects we cause on women who had an abortion in the past. We may not agree with the decision they made but of course they deserve second chances and the support from us. We can improve and
Many women that choose to have an abortion do not realize that it is a dangerous surgery with serious side effects. These side effects are both physical and psychological. Having an abortion is unnatural and interrupts this function of the human body. “The women’s body naturally resists the abortion, causing physical and emotional problems” (“Who does Abortion Affect?”). Almost all of the women who had abortions feel that they have made the wrong decision. The women are not informed about the side effects of abortion. Many women that had abortions said their doctors gave “little or no information about the potential health risks
