Child sexual and physical abuse is a very serious problem in this world today. Most people just like to lock it away and act like nothing happens. The truth is child sexual and physical abuse happens to children we know. But in fact the effects of the abuse follow the victim well into adulthood. Child abuse can affect from physical, emotive, or sexual harm. While child abuse is often in the form of an action, there are also case of not physical abuse, such as neglect. Some households that suffer from alcoholism/substance abuse and anger issues have higher chances of child abuse as compared to households without. Outcomes of child abuse can result in both short and long term injury, or even death. There are some children who may be unaware that they are victims of child abuse. “Child abuse carries well into adulthood” (Scott D. Easton, pg47.) Children who have never been able to speak out about their abuse hide their pain from society and even hide it from themselves. Years or even decades later, when an adult enters therapy or even talk to their loved one the painfully memories often come out. Survivors of the abuse often suffer from anxiety, nightmares, PTSD ,fearfulness, aggression, and inappropriate sexual behavior. This often results in a divorce between the two partners in marriage do to one's past child abuse.
