The 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, definitely isn’t seen as a normal or establishment president. Throughout his election process and almost a year into his term, Trump has proven he is one of the more unique presidents in American history. Because of this uniqueness, he is typically highly criticize. Though, this criticism clouds some of the reality. In fact, in his first year, a lot of his presidential accomplishments are comparable to previous modern day presidents. Therefore, through general norms and patterns to evaluate a president, Trump has shown he is extremely unique, but also fits in with the presidential normalcy. To begin, his background definitely stands out compared to literally every other American president. For one, he is labeled as a business man and not a politician. This label couldn’t be closer to truth because he has never held an office or served in the military. The reason this makes him so unique is because he is the only American President to have this form of resume. Based off this criteria, he is the most inexperienced president in American history. In the Executive office’s 227 year existence, from George Washing to Barrack Obama, there has never been a president who has entirely lacked both political and military service. However, Trump has broken this barrier. The previous US presidents came into the White house with an average of 13 years in public office and 5.6 years of military service (Crockett). This unique
There is no one reason that can explain President Donald J. Trump's controversial, but enduring appeal; however, the combination of charisma and a powerful message (i.e. “Make America Great Again”) were some of the greatest contributors to the success of his 2016 Presidential campaign. Donald Trump’s bold and non-politically correct approach to politics, along with his charismatic personality appealed to many Americans, and his campaign slogan of “Make America Great Again,” made many American’s feel nostalgic, because it allowed them to attach their own individual perception of when they felt America was at its greatest.
Donald Trump could not meet the same political expectations that presidents before him had. Americans have elected experienced politicians from the beginning, and they have watched the world progressively get worse every election. The people of the United States were tired of being let down by lying politicians that had promised the moon and stars but couldn’t deliver. In an article written by A.J. Delgado it states, “But the American public has reached a tipping point- we’d rather gouge out our eyes than select another career politician or Washington insider.” This quote is one that I couldn’t agree with more. Americans finally decided for themselves that enough is enough, and we deserve a change in this
Donald Trump is charming, well spoken, and adept at captivating the hearts and pockets of Americans all across the country. The philosophies of racism and a communist market that he perpetuates outline a much brighter future with markedly less freedom and increased levels of prejudice and xenophobia.
Since its conclusion, the 2016 presidential election had proven itself to be one of the most unprecedented elections cycles in recent memory Republican candidate Donald Trump, a self-proclaimed Washington outsider, scored an electoral victory of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton earning him the role as 45th president of the United States. Though Donald Trump was criticized for polarizing the electorate with rhetoric seen as discriminatory, the building of a wall on the United States-Mexico border and banning Muslims entry to the United States, it is inarguable to claim that his rhetoric on economic matter was divisive. In matter of speaking, it could be considered quite appealing. For many in the electorate, just the simple conversation
Donald Trump has ruined immigrants’ lives. Recently in 2017, Trump decided it would be best to take away DACA. Barack Obama, our former president, made DACA to provide safety to young undocumented immigrants from deportation. Since then immigrants have been able to work and live their life peacefully with no worry or concern about their citizenship, but now Trump has put fear back into their lives.
In conclusion, Donald Trump is both charismatic and holds himself in high esteem, he is eager to explain how exceptionally well he did in the election and does this in great length in his speeches. He even has a framed map of the 2016 election results displayed in the White House (Lozada, 2017). In his recent speech in Poland, Trump made reference to the ‘West’ ten times. Beinart (2017) argues that in this context the West is not a geographical term, but a racial and religious one. Trump is unlike his predecessors, who acknowledged that democracy and capitalism were not Western, but the universal aspiration of humankind. Previous leaders of the US discussed globalisation as a process where America improved the world. However, Trump describes globalisation as a process by which the world cheats, weakens and threatens America. His words, ‘The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive’ (Trump, 2017), only makes sense if non-white, non-Christians are seen as invaders. Thus, this implies that anyone in America who is non-white and non-Christian is a threat. Trump, by describing that being Western is the essence to the US’s identity, is defining the US to be in opposition to many of its own people.
This is a serious article. Although it will probably be a day late and a dollar short when it’s finally published, a few days after the Wisconsin primary. Moreover, what I write does not matter, at least for the powers that be, or whoever supports them.
George Walker Bush is the son of the 41st President George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush. Born on July 6, 1946, Bush was raised in Houston, Texas and was the oldest of four children. Bush finished his high school years at Phillips Academy, which was an all-male boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts, where he was the head cheerleader during his senior year. Bush went to college at Yale University from 1964 till his graduation in 1968 where he finished with a Bachelor’s degree in history. In the fall of 1973, Bush attended the Harvard Business School, where he earned an MBA. He is the only US President to have earned an MBA. He also is the first US President to get into office with a criminal record, as he had multiple
Donald Trump, America's current president. He didn’t come to power easily. But that is what makes him so important. Trump’s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn't be pushed aside by some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he's probably well versed in the political side of businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how Trump came to be,
Will Donald Trump fulfill America’s request and actually “make America great again”? When friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don’t understand the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He’s never had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he’d make a good president? Sure, Donald Trump is a barefaced self-promoter and experienced businessman. But people don’t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple things done within the nation’s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he’ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He’ll also have to get used to the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and also where things can move extremely slow at times. He’ll also have to get used to giving speeches on topics he may not be interested in, especially when it comes to conversations
When Donald trump announced his candidacy it was somewhat of a joke to some of the establish GOP members, but as time went on it became clearer that he is what the American public wanted. Donald Trump is a man that to the public may seem like he has no idea what the is doing, but that is not the truth at all. Walter Meade said that, “In both domestic and foreign policy, this century will be profoundly influenced by the values and concerns of Jacksonian America (Mead 2002, 231).” Donald Trump embodies those Jacksonian principles almost down to the mark, with a small percentage of Jeffersonian thrown in. He believes in first and foremost protecting America and its interests while still protecting the liberties at home, and that is what has shaped and will shape his foreign policy if and when he becomes president.
Donald Trump is one of the most controversial world leaders of our time. Two people may find it challenging to agree on certain things about him. While some see him in the positive light, others can describe him with negative descriptive. Whatever angle from which you’re looking at Donald Trump, he
Every now and again in history a man comes along who overthrows a corrupt elite and resets the political establishment. In 2016 America elected Donald Trump as there 45th president and to say the least it has been an interesting transition as Trump has taken office. He has made interesting statements and has been nothing less than arrogant with quotes. This particular quote is inspirational “I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That’s where the fun is.” (Donald Trump) After reading and hearing about Trumps quotes and appearances in the media he is starting to sound more and more like Julius Caesar with his famous quote “I came, I saw, I Conquered” (Julius Caesar)
Ask almost anyone in the United States what are the values of this country, and you are very likely to hear very similar responses. People will bring up freedom, hard work, and self determination. Throughout the early history of our country, many have contributed to defining the American values many to this day hold so dear. The forefathers of this nation like those who signed the Declaration of Independence and Jefferson outlined our national values, but have frequently left out and excluded many marginalized and oppressed people. However, voices representing those who have no voice have also spoken up to show how not all are able to access the opportunities that America promises. *Therefore, even though the United States of America has much to offer to some as a land of opportunity for those who wish to be here, it frequently excludes certain people. The Travel Ban, a ban that shows the inequality that exit in America, This ban prevents people from the “ seven majority muslim country from entering the USA. This ban not only brought divins and controversy in America but it is unacceptable and unconstitutional because it undermines the beliefs that all men are created equal with inalienable rights.
The crying won’t stop and the stupidity is just never ending. That is liberalism in a sentence. It’s terrible knowing that almost everything on the media is very liberal on such levels that should be deemed cancerous. Knowing that we have to deal with so much people who just go on and on about Donald Trump everyday, that probably has to get annoying for them too I bet. Well it got annoying for a lot of people, including me. There is now never a day on the news I can’t see the headlines about DT, unless something tragic happens then that gets the headline but we should be lucky that it doesn’t happen everyday.
