This includes news, file sharing, opinions sharing, life sharing and so forth. One single click can reach to millions of people who can instantly get notified of an occurring situation and other important updates. One can come to believe with this power, to have yourself the opportunity to be heard and share your thoughts on topics without physical restraints, that there are no risks that can be involved. More often than wanted are many people who ignorantly post things without thinking beforehand the repercussions that could potentially follow, belittling the harm that could ever possibly spring forth, ending up receiving the mighty banhammer and the face of court. 2 Such an example can be seen from a post on twitter of Joe Fitzgibbon “upset by the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals, he tweeted: 3 Losing a football game sucks. 4 Losing to a desert racist wasteland sucks a lot.” (Bergal). Within minutes, many negative and harsh replies and comments treaded over the post that Joe made public which he initially intended as a satirical post, claiming that he was sorry for those who took it too seriously. With this in mind, let us now create a list of best practices to follow and use so that we may avoid these misunderstanding and mistakes. Judging by the facts and evidence in recent history regarding social media mistakes, the best way to combat this is to keep with what follows but not limited to: Take social media off of your phone and only post through the computer. This way you take the time to rethink what you plan to post about. Treat social media like it is an official newspaper forum, this way you don’t play games or jokes with it to the public where everyone can read it. Don’t entrust
