Passage two quote is from “Coraline” by Neil Gaiman. The main idea of “Coraline” is that getting everything a character wants is not a good thing for the character. In “Coraline” the main character speaks this quote from passage two, to the “other Mr. Bobo” and explains receiving everything she wants; toys, undivided attention by her parents and never being bored is not good. As she would be losing her independence also not working towards her goals. Therefore, a character getting everything they want is bad because your independence is lost due to always striving for the next best and not being happy.
A person in creative work that has had a major influence on me is probably Eminem. Although he is a rapper, he has influenced me in my writing abilities. As a child I loved poetry, the flow of the poem moved me along with what was being told. It wasn't until I was about 14 when I started writing music to help cope with everyday life. I listened to alot of rap music at the time because I wanted to pursue the career as a rapper in middle school. I was never really good at memorizing lyrics to songs but, as soon as I listened to “Lose Yourself” something sparked inside me. I would blast Eminem as I go to sleep and wake up in the morning rapping. I had slipped into a dark time going into my freshmen year of high school and I constantly wrote

In the movie Coraline, an idea explored in the text is not everything is as good as it seems. This means, not everything you encounter will be perfect. This is a great theme for the movie Coraline because that is exactly what happens. She expects the Other World to be perfect but when her wishes get granted, everything gets weird. One day as Wybie appears she wishes that he would stop talking. The next time she visits the Other World, her wish was granted and the Other Mother has sewn the Other Wybie's mouth together to stop him from talking. You can tell that the Other Mother has dodgy intentions by the way Henry Selick uses a close up to show her facial expressions. In this scene you can see that the Other Mother has a mischievous expression
Nearly 11.6 million Mexican immigrants reside in America and nearly 70% of these are not naturalized citizens of the United States (migrationpolicy.org). Immigration is a major issue in American politics and it will only get bigger, with current presidential candidate Donald Trump seeing it as a major issue that cannot continue. However, despite many of these views Mexican immigrants should be granted amnesty (given they haven’t committed any past crimes) and more Mexican immigrants should be allowed in America.
In the book Coraline Coraline goes through a plethora of stages starting from being a naïve child to eventually evolving into a girl with a strong identity who is fully aware of who she is and proud of who she has become. At the beginning of the book Coraline is your typical kid who is filled with curiosity and an urge for exploration. This is best illustrated on page 26 when Coraline first ventures into the alternate universe. “ Coraline went through the door; she wondered what the empty flat would be like if that was where the corridor lead” (Gaiman 26). Although Coraline is unaware of her surroundings (due to the fact that she just moved there) this does not stop Coraline from being adventurous and exploring the unknown. This act of Coraline going into the corridor while having no idea where the corridor leads and without even thinking about the possible consequences of this action shows Coraline’s overall lack of maturity and her naive childlike ways. Before Coraline makes her ultimate transition from naïve and fearless child to a brave, confident, and independent girl she further displays her childlike ways by always having a strong desire to receive what she wants; and if she fails to get what she wants she expresses her displeasure. This is clearly illustrated by two quotes in the book. In the first quote Coraline is upset that her mother will not purchase a pair of gloves she likes. “ Coraline saw some Day-Glo green gloves she liked a lot. Her mother refused to buy

A recurring theme we see throughout any of the works we see in the books is the theme of happiness. At the beginning of the every one of these stories, there is a longing for happiness and wanting an escape from misery and boredom. In 1984, Winston Smith is a man who knows nothing but authoritarianism and wants to free from such a miserable world; he wants to be happy. In Coraline, we begin the story where she has moved into her new home where she doesn’t know anybody and there is nothing for her to do. This makes her bored and lonely; she wants to be happy.
