After a thorough search of the Belanglo State Forest by authorities that resulted from the discovery of the bodies of Caroline Clarke and Joanne Walters, no other bodies were found. The police believed it was an isolated case and continued to search for information on the murderer of these two girls. The intense media coverage had left locals worried about what else could be found in the vast state forest which led local man Bruce Pryor to find another body. On the 5th October 1993 over a year after the discovery of the first two bodies, Bruce Pryor discovered a thigh bone and a skull which he brought to police who returned to the area and found yet another body. Three days later the police confirmed that one of the victims was Victorian backpacker
The woods runner by Gary Paulsen was written to show some reality of the Revolutionary War. The story is of a young thirteen year old boy named Samuel, whose life changes in an instant. All caused from this great war. He didn’t even war was happening until a few days before it impacted his little settlement. The settlement is in Pennsylvania on the edge of a forest. Samuel loves the forest and finds pride in being a great hunter for his settlement. While out hunting Samuel can see that something is wrong when he sees smoke coming from home. On this day in 1863, Union troops capture Lookout Mountain southwest of Chattanooga, Tennessee,as they begin to break the Confederate siege of the city. In the “battle above the clouds,” the Yankees scaled the slopes of the mountain on the periphery of the Chattanooga lines.
Conservation of our natural environment is of vital importance. Now, people should preserve nature and protect it. In addition, it is imperative to realize that, the survival of humanity and many creatures depends mainly on the state of the environment around us. As matter of fact, science place a relevant part in the conservation of the planet. Moreover, Physical geography is the study of all natural forms and processes in an environment, also, the field covers the cause and effect of human activity on the environment. “Geographers study the location and distribution of things-tangible things such as rainfall, mountains, and trees" (Hess, Darrel, Physical Geography, Third California Edition) For this reason, I decided to visit The Whittier Narrows Center. It is one of the many centers that have been established in US to conserve the most crucial asset that human beings possess, the environment. Those who study geography realize that it is important to conduct a thorough study on the center and its activities to identify what makes it such a unique site. This project is providing an insight of the center by describing its natural settings per Physical Geography. The paper will focus on the center’s location, geographical settings, weather, climate, plants and trees, soils, wildlife, terrain, local history and a site map.
When I want to go for a hike in Saskatoon I think about the Meewasin River Trails. The Meewasin Valley Authority is a conservation agency based in Saskatoon, Meewasin helps conserve some of the natural prairie left in Canada. Meewasin was the creator of conservation agencies in Western Canada. There are many other topics that I could have chosen, such as baseball in Canada, Dustin Molleken, and many others.Meewasin has helped with many things and parks in Saskatoon. Have you ever been to Beaver Creek or Wanuskewin, well if you have than those are both conservation areas created by Meewasin. In my paragraphs I will tell you about just a small portion of Meewasin. My paragraphs tell what Meewasin is, how it was created, what it does, its conservation
Taking on a journey stretching well over 2,100 miles, covering fourteen states (from Maine to Georgia) by foot is no simple stroll where at the end of the day a comfortable bed and hot meal would await you. Instead, hiking the Appalachian Trail can be an endless battle with all the elements of mother nature: whereas in one state spring would have sprung already with wildflowers dressing the forest floors and insects buzzing through crisp air, on other parts of the trail it [the weather conditions] would be smothering heat, but meanwhile a few states north the rain would fall endlessly with gusts of cold wind, and snow would blanket the pathways of the trail and more than likely blizzards

Prior to 1821, the land beyond Missouri was an uncharted region known only to buffalo and displaced Native Americans. When Mexicans won independence from Spain in 1821, they encouraged trade with the United States via New Mexico. Lack of water and hostile Native Americans made the trip dangerous, but William Becknell, “Father of the Santa Fe Trail,” left Missouri that year to arrive in Santa Fe a month-and-a-half later. After a large profit, Becknell continued to make trips, blazing the path that became known as the Santa Fe Trail. Soon, traders, visitors, and the military would regularly travel the route.
