John Gardner creates a humorous tale in medieval time with fantasy. I know this because the dragon in the story starts talking witch is definitely not real. I know he likes medieval times because nowadays kings and queens have guards not knights.
In the short story Lamb to the Slaughter written by Roald Dahl the author shows us a different perspective to violence that is rarely used. The protagonist of the story is not necessarily a hero. The author wants us to understand that just because someone is the protagonist doesn’t mean they can’t be violent. They don’t need any hard-core training or even a real weapon! Anyone and everyone has the capability of being violent.
Harper Lee, known by many as “Nelle”, was very independent and brave. She kept to herself and lived her life according to herself. No one else besides the people she loved and lived for. She never wanted others changing the way her life was lived. Interviews were never allowed by her so it was always very difficult for people to understand her way of living from her point of view. She was passionate about her writings and future of being a lawyer, Lee was also sensible about her surroundings and others.
Alexander, growing up in the shadow of his father’s success, wished to expand the success and wealth that his father’s conquest brought the Greek kingdom. The power and material value witnessed by Alexander brought by his father’s successful conquests, pushed Alexander to capitalize upon this concept and follow in his father’s footsteps. “The more

The prince was a tall, young man with watchful blue eyes and long coppery hair. He had gone impulsively to hunt. Ian could think of nothing like responsibility or duty. He could only think of leaving the palace for an hour or a day. The company had met the king's messenger half-way across Sirle. The message was accompanied by a troop of guards to make sure that Ian did not ignore it. Come home, it said tersely. Now. Ian was not surprised, and he was too weary to fend for himself. So he let fortune, in the shape of the king's guards, bring him back.
It was to a significant extent that Alexander earned his title ‘great’ because of how he ruled as a King and how he acted as an individual. Alexander inherited many traits from his father including his ability to make quick decisions, his logical perception, and his courage and leadership skills. Alexander was thought to be generous, have a deep affection for intimate friends and consideration for women. Though, sometimes, his violence went beyond what was necessary and
Dido, in this essay, I wish not only to encourage your writing of the aforementioned, but also to bestow upon you a unique perspective. Life is something, which we may never fully understand and that is why we must do our best to make sense of it. One must learn to listen not only to their thoughts, but conterminally, the thoughts of others. Why? Because by listening to the thoughts of others, we can build upon our differences in opinion and find truth in places of necessity. These truths which I speak of can only be known if others are willing to listen. Alexander, is one of those people who are willing to listen, for you are his grandfather. Since, you are unfortunately
Have you ever read a book that you think is worthy of the ‘Good-Read Choice Award’? I have, and it is called ‘The Dragon’s Child’ by Laurence Yep and Dr Kathleen Yep. The story takes place in China and America. It is about a boy called Yep Gim Lew who is forced by his father, Yep Lung Gon, to work at the Golden Mountain, which was the name for America at that time as there was a lot of gold there. This story is about his journey to the Golden Mountain and the challenges he faced due to the harsh immigration at Angel Island.
One of the most intriguing relationships to study when studying Alexander, is the relationship between his father, Philip II, and himself. At a very young age, Alexander’s authority was questioned. His father had many wives, and children with these wives. This is significant because it makes one wonder if Alexander was legitimate to the throne. His father called this into question and allowed the public to voice their opinion on this matter (National Geographic). After this incident Alexander and his mother were extremely insulted. Ironically, Philip was
Alexander the Great, the Son of King Philip II of Macedonia, was a young yet ambitious leader who conquered many nations. In ancient Greece, Greeks desired their leaders to be intelligent, prestigious, loyal, and hospitable. Alexander, an ambitious commander, satisfied all categories to qualify as a great leader. Alexander was born into nobility for his father was a descendent of Heracles, and his mother was a descendent of Aeacus. As Alexander grew older, he was tutored by Aristotle, a well respected Philosopher; There, he developed the thirst for more knowledge. To add on, after learning about medicinal properties, he applied it in real life to aid and cure his friends. On the other hand, many others saw Alexander’s invasion as chaotic and power driven because of the mayhem that have accompanied Alexander’s raid. Although many might argue that Alexander may seem like a heroic and powerful man for conquering various nations, others may see him as a destructive and belligerent man that was only thirsty for power and the expansion of land.
Aristotle defined nature “as an internal origin of change or stability”1. Natural substances are things such as animals, plants and inanimate matter like earth, water, fire and air. Each natural substance according to Aristotle has its own nature, which is what gives rise to its natural behaviour/characteristic. The nature of a natural substance is its inner principle/source of change.2
William Shakespeare once wrote that some men are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them. Some historians believe that Alexander III of Macedon fall into some of these categories, while others do not. This highly regarded ruler is often referred as ‘Alexander the Great’, however, the acknowledgement given by historians to Alexander’s father, Philip II of Macedon, does not sufficiently recognise Philip’s achievements as being a major qualifying factor of Alexander’s accomplishments. Conflict wise, Alexander is quite notable for many military achievements within his short rulership of twelve years, 335 to 323 BC. It is many of these achievements that derived from and were a major influence from Philip himself.
