I believe that the government does have a right to monitor internet content under certain conditions. As of now certain government officials are wanting to take internet freedom away which many believe isn't right. I personally believe that if the government believes and has proof that there is a serious crime happening on the internet then it should be taken care of. If not, then it shouldn’t be much of a problem. Examples of internet activity that could be considered a crime is the search and sell on the black market, cyberterrorism (when people use the internet as a threat to the government computers and the information stored on them). Many use the internet as an escape from the pressure of school, the people in it, and often times family life. Many have internet friends that they use as a way of escaping these things. People who are in the LGBTQ+ community are constantly disapproved of by many people whether it be in school or their own families. In order to prevent themselves to resorting to other types of coping methods they confide in people on the internet. Net Neutrality being repealed may cause these kids to be outed and possibly put into dangerous situations. Net Neutrality protects our right for free speech and gives many people a voice. It provides many people of color a way to speak out and share their stories. As well as small business the ability to attract customers. The repeal of it would not only be violation of rights but seen as an act of censorship. It'd be the government's version of what Kim Jong Un is doing in North Korea. Not giving their citizens a voice and only putting out pre-approved information. When people think of the United States they think of freedom and being able to share opinions and ideas without the fear of being of punished for them.
