Slide 1: Evaluation of ‘C’ in Netball
Slide 2:
Whether you are on the court or sitting or bench, you are part of the team on court, side by side you cheer them to victory. Netball is played throughout the world, especially in Australia where they hold lots of tournaments, including Fast five, the Constellation Cup and The Suncorp Super Netball, from these tournaments selects a team to who competes in the Commonwealth games every 4 years. All positions on the court play an important role by working together to bring the ball down the court with a range of passes and plays, usually taught at practise with the use of a training program. A ‘Center’ should have a intense training program with Aerobic Capacity as key. The following areas, Fitness testing, Fitness Components, Training Methods will evaluate the ‘center’ position and the training program which has been made to suit the position, furthermore two recommendations will be discussed to improve my personal performance in ‘C’ position.

The more efficiently your body delivers oxygen to its tissues, the lower your breathing rate is. (Healthguidance.org, 2017) In a game of Netball the Cardiovascular (Aerobic) Endurance is thoroughly important throughout Netball because it gives the body the capability not only to deliver but to also use oxygen. Playing Netball you have to exercise for a long period of time without becoming tired or fatigued. Ultimately research and statistics has shown that in regards to a Netball player playing ‘Center’ they use their Cardiovascular Endurance system a lot to ensure their muscles are supplied with the energy they require, in order for them to control the buildup of lactic acid during prolonged periods of strenuous activity. Ultimately the higher a player's aerobic capacity the more efficient a player would be in their performance on the
A game of touch requires the use of all energy systems at once but in varied amounts. The body will automatically choose which energy system it requires the most based on the fitness components used. It has been identified above that the three main components used by a middle are; Aerobic capacity, muscular endurance and coordination. In figure 12.5 it shows the relationship between components of fitness and energy systems. Both aerobic capacity and muscular endurance relate to the Aerobic system. The aerobic system uses oxygen and is generally one of low-mid intensity and/or of a longer duration. Middles utilise this energy system because they continuously require energy production at an almost equal rate.
Exercise increases the use of energy by your muscles, which activates a series of reactions to create new energy to keep exercising and maintain homeostasis. The first reaction that occurs is an increase in your breathing rate. Energy creation requires significant oxygen. The only way to provide the necessary oxygen is to increase the speed at which your respiratory system is introducing it into your bloodstream. The harder you exercise, the more energy is used, resulting in your body increasing your breathing rate even more to maintain adequate energy levels for balance.
Each of these positions has specific fitness components to be successful. The main fitness components for middle are speed, coordination,
The competitive sport of cheerleading is not all about jumping up and down and yelling “Go team, go!”. It’s about using your strength to perform a variety of skills that form together to make a routine. These routines are performed by many teams to be judged during competitions. Practice is required to do well at competitions. In order to become a cheerleader, you need to have tumbling skills, endurance, and flexibility.
What limits the speed and stamina of most endurance athletes is the ability of their heart and lungs to deliver oxygen at a steady rate
This test showed which players would be more suitable to the middle position, as they are fitter. It is also specific to the nature of touch football, due to the short sharp turns. The second aerobic capacity test we completed was the 12 minute run. For this test we had to run for 12 minutes trying to complete the maximum distance we could. My ratings for this test were good, (see appendix 1). These tests can be related to touch football, as touch football requires aerobic fitness because players need to be able to last a 40 minute game of continuous running. Even though in touch you have a number of subs, you are continuously subbing on and off. You do not get much rest, as the game is very vigorous. Aerobic capacity is mainly for the middle position in touch football, as they have to run a lot more during the game and are the fittest players on the field, (SportingPulse, 2013).

1. Soccer is one of the most demanding of all sports. The game is played on one of the largest fields of any sport, for the longest sustained time and with the least amount of breaks. Players in a soccer team are in continuous activity as they compete for loose balls, move to encourage teammates, rotate positions and run to make a space or test opponents. Running, jumping, sprinting movements in relation with sudden changes of acceleration and route outweigh the play. The power of the game ranges between low-level activities such as walking or jogging to ones of high intensity such as sprinting . This is what is known as intermittent exercise. The rhythm of soccer is dynamic and constantly changing, which is a characteristic that divides it from other endurance sports , this suggests that in order for a midfielder to successfully endure for the entire 90 minutes all three energy systems assist in different stages although the ATP/PC system is dominant.

ii) Describe why each of these fitness components are needed to perform in this sport successfully.
Cardio-respiratory is very important in golf. An average golfer will walk 10 km in a round of golf, and therefor can endurance become a factor. A golfer should be well conditioned to walk these long distances with the correct posture, long strides, with easy movements and with no effort. When a person exercises his or her cardiovascular systems, it helps improving their fitness levels. The oxygen demand on the muscles will increase a lot more when fitness levels are higher and metabolic processes speed up tremendously. To ensure that a player gets maximum performance the cardiovascular systems have to work well in order to regulate the changes that have to meet the needs of the body. Keeping energy levels up during a round of golf is crucial
This can be measured by the 20m shuttle run, where the scores achieved by an elite male and female player were 12.8 and 10.8 respectively (Appendix 2). This higher relative VO2 maximum of males is due to cardiac hypertrophy (larger and stronger heart), which increases stroke volume per beat, consequently increasing oxygen circulation. Therefore, male players have a greater aerobic capacity, delaying fatigue and enabling faster recovery between repeated maximal efforts. This is important in Touch Football, which requires many quick bursts of sprinting, with minimal recovery time. The male players spent an average of 20:41 minutes on field in comparison to 18:17 minutes spent by female players (Appendix 2), yet men subbed more frequently (12 average subs in males versus 11 in females) (Appendix 2).
The sport of volleyball was created by a man named William G. Morgan of Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1895. Morgan was a physical education teacher at the YMCA and called it "mintonette". It was an indoor or outdoor pastime that had characteristics of both handball and tennis. The first rules were written down by Morgan himself. He wrote that the game called for a 6 foot 6 inch net and a court of 25x50 feet. A match composed of 9 innings and 3 serves for each team in each inning. In case of a serving error they got a second chance just like in tennis. If the ball it the net
As we all know, America is a nation of sports enthusiasts. Most Americans participate is some kind of sporting event, either as a spectator or as a competitor. In the pantheon of great American sports, there is one that stands out. It has been called the great American pastime. Yes, that great sport known as tennis. Tennis requires a mastery of many skills to be able to play competitively, but the primary skill needed to win in tennis is the serve. The serve is the primary offensive weapon used I tennis, because it is the only time when a player gets to put a ball into play. The player controls the speed, the placement, and the spin of the ball. With proper procedure, the serve can win many points and games for the server. The technique
Today I woke up with utter excitement as I knew I had netball training. This means I get to avoid the nightmarish reality for a little longer. Netball was my go to. It facilitated in clearing all the painful images and thoughts that rumble through my mind daily. As I walked out the door I felt the cold shiver of winter running down my spine. My scarf flew away from my face while I walked the opposite direction of the wind. It was dark maybe a little too dark to how I like it. There were nights I lay in my bed listening to the sound of fighting. My mother would shout, my father would begin laying into her and the screaming would start. She cried, he seethed, and I pushed my face further into the pillow.
