What do you want to become when you grow up? There are so many choices to pick from. You can become an engineer, a basketball player, a teacher, or a professor, but just think about it. If you enjoy reading about the brain and the nervous system you might like the job I’m about to talk about. A job where you can help the people around you in a big way, a job where you can have something challenging to do every day. And that job is a neurosurgeon. Many surgeons complete 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3 to 7 years in their residency or internship. Most people who apply to medical school have a bachelor's degree and many have other higher-level degrees. A Neurosurgeon is a bit different than a general surgeon. General surgeons focus on the abdominal region, treating conditions of the appendix, colon, liver, pancreas, and even the gallbladder.
