Jill Lepore, is a David Woods Kemper’ 41 professor of America History at Harvard University and a staff writer at The New Yorker. She writes about America history, law, literature and politics. She is consider an American historian, has her B.A. where she teaches American politics history, and focuses on missing evidence in historical record and articles. The purposes for Lepore to write this book “New York Burning” was to rewrite the New York conspiracy of 1741, by using the Horsmanden Journal, she shows how politics and laws were used in the 18th century against the slave and how the white New Yorkers fear of slaves. This thesis is an argument that points how people were misjudge by others and how the slave were mean less for this country. Meanwhile, she remarks analysis of the political and culture of one city (New York). Nevertheless, her work evidences in an emerging nation where the enslaved and the free coexisted.
White supremacist leaders, were acting in pure race rage against specifically color people, purely based on the ethnicity, white people felt treated because slavery was rising. Political tension were rising up do to not knowing how or even if they should free slaves and how slave did not had no right at all.
Accordingly, after reading the book the impact that racism and slavery had with America politics were that color, servants did not had the right to defend themselves since they did not had the power like the rich white people. Yes some impact does still exist in this new day and age, now with this new president in the house. For instance he is judging the Muslim community, because of the terrorist actions that have happen in the past and his own bewildering paranoia consider them a treat for the U.S. Another example is how he also judge the Latino and more specific the Mexican Culture, how he is separating families without knowing the background of these people just
