Jill Lepore, is a David Woods Kemper’ 41 professor of America History at Harvard University and a staff writer at The New Yorker. She writes about America history, law, literature and politics. She is consider an American historian, has her B.A. where she teaches American politics history, and focuses on missing evidence in historical record and articles. The purposes for Lepore to write this book “New York Burning” was to rewrite the New York conspiracy of 1741, by using the Horsmanden Journal, she shows how politics and laws were used in the 18th century against the slave and how the white New Yorkers fear of slaves. This thesis is an argument that points how people were misjudge by others and how the slave were mean less for this country. Meanwhile, she remarks analysis of the political and culture of one city (New York). Nevertheless, her work evidences in an emerging nation where the enslaved and the free coexisted.
White supremacist leaders, were acting in pure race rage against specifically color people, purely based on the ethnicity, white people felt treated because slavery was rising. Political tension were rising up do to not knowing how or even if they should free slaves and how slave did not had no right at all.

The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the American Slavery and the Holocaust, in terms of which one was more malevolent than the other. Research indicates that “the “competition” between African-American and Jews has served to trivialize the malevolence which both has suffered” (Newton, 1999). According to L. Thomas “A separate issue that contributes to the tension between blacks and Jews refer to to the role that Jews played in the American Slave trade.”
“Racism was used aggressively to divide poor white southerners from slaves. The relationship between the wealthy and the poor was aggressively exploited by the rich white slave holder to ensure the poor whites non-slave holder that they had a similar cause” (Shaping America: Lesson 16). This caused non-slave holding whites to have a similar view as latter. Non-slave holding whites were in direct competition with slaves and more often than not were forced out of work due to the free labor slavery had offered.

Slavery has always been viewed as one of the most scandalous times in American history. It may seem that the entire institution of slavery has been categorized as white masters torturing defenseless African Americans. However, not every slave has encountered this experience. In this essay I will focus on the life of two former slaves Harriet Smith and Mr. George Johnson and how in some cases their experience were similar as well as different in other aspects. Early American Literature reflects many conflicting differences in the presentation of slavery during that time period. Through the two chosen texts, the reader is presented with two different perspectives of slavery; Frederick Douglass’s narrative provides a look at a slave’s life through the eyes if a slave while Benito Cereno showcases the tale of a slave uprising from the viewpoint of the slave owner.. Benito Cereno’s work shows the stereotypical attitude towards African-American slaves and the immorality of that outlook according to Douglass’s narrative. Cereno portrays the typical white slave owner of his time, while Douglass’ narrative shows the thoughts of the slaves. The two stories together show that white Americans are oblivious to the ramifications and overall effects of slavery. These texts assist a moralistic purpose in trying to open up America’s eyes to the true nature of slavery by revealing it’s inhumanity and depicting the cruelty that was allowed.

In Twelve Years a Slave, The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, and Incidents in the Life of the Slave Girl personal accounts from these slaves are used to strongly depict and argue against slavery as a cruel, inhumane and murderous practice ruining the lives of these equal souls who feel pain and injustice just like any other human. Everything from vicious skin scarring lashings to violent rapes are put on display through these works in an effort to show the severe moral injustices committed by slave-owners at this time in America. This book written by Dresher is a Golding bridge to establishing a link of history knowledge from the facts and researches between the generation of slave and the modern world, to give some answers to questions that have been the mind focus of science to understand the reality of what happened at that time. Seymour Dresher pointed out some slave systems and antislavery mobilizations brought some changes in the slavery. He underlined how political and business people made use of the slavery to create social transformation. In his book, he traced dates and places of some of the events of slavery trade from Africa to the Europe and America.
