The Great Gatsby was published in 1925,and this book was awarded the second of 100 best novels of American literary history.This book’s writer,F. Scott Fitzgerald,whose shadow has been shown on the Nick and Gatsby.Nick and Fitzgerald were both born in common families but graduated from famous universities,and thought that the new life with luxury and crazy love is attractive.Gatsby and Fitzgerald are both mammonish.They thought the money can bring everything and they can prove that they are the qualified lovers with money.Besides,the writer put the story in 1920s when American economy was developing at full speed.

It tells of a very wealthy Jay Gatsby, who’s believed to have earned his money in dishonest or illegal ways, and his endeavors to court Daisy Buchannon. Daisy is the wife a another very wealthy Tom Buchannon, and he gets in touch with her through Nick Carraway, a middleclass neighbor who narrates the story. There are many significant and clever allusions and representations in Fitzgerald’s masterpiece The Great Gatsby.

The story of The Great Gatsby is a novel that consists of a historical American context during the Harlem Renaissance. This was an excellent novel published in the 1920’s and was considered one of the best novels of its time. The author F. Scott Fitzgerald was an incredibly talented poetic author. Fitzgerald was able to emphasize and create the mood of the generation in a political time. The novel The Great Gatsby is a remarkable novel but also a very sad one. The novel took place during an age or era known as the “Roaring Twenties” which was a time of American wealth. Politics and corruption at the time is possibly what made Gatsby to be the business man he was.

    Summary: The narrator of The Great Gatsby, Nick starts the novel by describing himself and introducing Gatsby, everything he scorns, but strives to be. Nick moves to the West Egg in New York to work in the bond business. Nick goes to Tom and Daisy’s house for dinner one night. Tom is a friends from college and Daisy is Nick’s cousin. Nick finds out about Tom’s lover, and sees Gatsby reaching off in the distance when he arrives home.

There are many reasons that people have put into their consideration which has made it a novel that people are wanting to read frequent times. The novel starts on with a midwest native, Nick Carraway who arrives in New York in the year of 1922 in search of the American dream. Nick, a would-be writer, moves in next-door to a millionaire Jay Gatsby and across the bay from his cousin Daisy and her already cheating husband, Tom. Thus, Nick becomes drawn into the captivating world of the wealthy and as he bears a witness to their illusions and deceits which creates a story of tremendous love, dreams, and tragedy in the novel. Therefore, some of the reasons which interest people into reading the amazing novel is how it explains a few events in figurative language, how it shows the american dream and how it explains the plot development.

In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald reveals that the upper class society is corrupt from money. This is best proven through Gatsby, Daisy, and Tom.

The Great Gatsby provides a critical social history of America during the Roaring Twenties or described as the “Jazz Age” throughout the narrative . Although The Great Gatsby seems like a normal book with a normal story, people have pulled a variety of theories based how how the story was written. Some people believe Jay Gatsby was an African American man , and some others even believe there's a connection with racism. I chose the familiar Nick Carraway is gay and in love with Jay Gatsby theory based on Fitzgerald's expressing himself through the characters.

The Great Gatsby concerns the wasteful lives of four wealthy characters as observed by their acquaintance, narrator Nick Carraway. The class COM 231 overall has helped me in many different ways throughout. I personally feel like I’ve learned many new things as well. Going into the class I thought I was going to have to surmount a big conflict because public speaking isn’t one of my strongest suits. I do always recommend this class to all of my peers because indeed it does help with public speaking. Through the class I have improved skills, learned new ones, and even had some tough moments.

One of my favorite classic rock songs has always been “Glory Days” by Bruce Springsteen. I grew up listening to my dad’s music and this is one song that has always stuck with me. When I first found out that it was inspired by the Novel “The Great Gatsby” by F Scott. Fitzgerald I was shocked, I had never really listened to the lyrics before. After Reading the book and listening to the song a few more times, I realized that every verse is loosely based on different main characters. This gave the song new meaning for me, it now makes me picture the characters from the book and also has reminiscent sadness attached to it while still connecting to the idea of the American dream, a theme which is also very prevalent in the great Gatsby. The inspiration of characters for verses in this song makes it connects with the book on a whole new level.
