Since childhood I’ve had a huge fascination with the world, most importantly, how it interacted with the different cultures and communities. Exploration of the world was a key value of mine and the tales of New York City were fascinating: a place where various cultures and ethnicities collided, blending into a hub of globalization. This sense of adventure and discovery never left, and neither did my fascination with New York City as a central part of a globalizing world. As with that as a primary thought I discovered in researching a four-year, New York University as the place to continue my education.
The closer I inspected NYU, the more I felt drawn to the institution, specifically the College of Arts and Science. This institution offers
Coming from an undergraduate institution that focused on providing a ground-breaking and revolutionary education, I wanted to continue receiving an education that is the fruit of research and experience. NYU's
NYU-AD has always been my first choice college. Several of our graduated are currently doing their undergraduate programs there and they provide great feedbacks and reviews about NYU-AD. I believe at NYU I can receive an outstanding liberal arts and science education.
The class Discover New York, will be about really finding New York, its history, landmarks and the politics behind all of it. There is much deeper history to New York that many do not know or care about. This short essay opens your eyes to the different perspectives the
In the summer of 2017, I had visited Wilkes-Barre, Arcadia University, Temple University. Wilkes-Barre and Temple had the urban atmosphere that I craved for college. Living in York, where there is farm down the street from my house, I needed to experience fast pace, never sleeping aspect of the city. With this in mind, it disappointed me how much neither Temple nor Wilkes awed me. I could see myself going there, but I could also see myself not. Another impediment was that it is only one hour away from my parents.
Traveling between the Bronx and Manhattan has allowed me to see that even though they are so close in distance, everyone is yet so far. Being raised in the Bronx has allowed me to gain a sense of home and recognition, but also how stereotypes are meant to deceive us. The Bronx is labeled as a dangerous place, where violence occurs, but people neglect the beauty and happiness that surrounds it too. Meanwhile, when people think of Manhattan, they see it as the heart of New York where everyone is living their dreams. When in reality, the “heart” of New York is much more distant from itself, and that is not just because it is on an island.
Academically, I look forward to attending an institution where I can personalize my education. College of Art and Science at Penn resonates with my educational goals. The College Curriculum satisifies my desire for well-rounded higher education. I can flexibly decide my class schedule and learn across disciplines. I can study a wide range of art and science knowledge and broaden my horizon. While discovering the fundamental principles of nature, I can enjoy the beauty and charm of humanity and art. This general and specialized education, like the Penn student Kramar who speaks in the video, enables me to integrate creative art into my scientific research to better understand the pattern of microscopic world and ignite lot of innovative ideas.
NYU offers various choices; however, the Gallatin School of Individualized Study is what ignited my interest in NYU. I wanted to pursue a medical, math, and art career, but I did not know where to start. When I learned about the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, I was exhilarated. If I am to be accepted, I would not have to limit myself to one area of interest. I could pursue all because NYU connects the students to their right path through the school and the city.
I joined a program called SOCAPA (School Of Creative And Performing Arts) in hopes of becoming more independent and meeting other artistic teenagers like me. Almost every morning the actors took a morning subway to Manhattan where we’d take all kinds of acting classes at 440 Studios on Lafayette St. Every subway ride made me feel like I was an everyday NYC commuter in my twenties who took subway rides on the regular. We fended for ourselves-figured out our own meals, went grocery shopping, organized our dorms, and abided by a 10:30 curfew. Living in dorms made me feel like a college student. I met dozens of people that I never dreamed of meeting before. A melting pot of creativity and different cultures filled each square of the NYU Polytechnic University Campus. I came across photographers, actors, filmmakers, dancers, and singers. The diversity was outstanding-I was the only American in my dorm of girls from France, Panama, and the Dominican
Attending a collage is the first step for your future career. We all knew that if we want a good job we need to work hard and to study smart. Also, you should attend a good collage, which has a good ranking, I chose Susquehanna University because it has all the material to support me reaching my goal. One of the Susquehanna University goals is teach us how to identify and describe the basic principles and theories of the biological sciences, by providing the university very good staffs. Biology department staffs are awesome, they are very helpful and their teaching styles are exciting. I really like the biology major and the university staff made me love it more. When I see my biology class professor I think I want to teach this course, because
Visiting New York, I was heavily impressed by the vitality of this dynamic and influential metropole as by the cultural diversity on NYU’s campus. Furthermore, I liked the attitude of NYU’s founders, stating that this University is graciously open to all, which I as a non-U.S. Citizen appreciate in particular, just as the fact that NYU has the highest number of international students in the United States. Moreover, earning a degree adapted to current exigencies is crucial for me. The non-denominational concept is also exemplary, as it conveys a world open attitude, which is identical to my own one and extremely important to me in a globalized world. The “open” Washington Square Campus, located in the heart of Manhattan promotes interaction
Therefore, to further my academic interests I needed to transfer to a school with an excellent computer science program. NYU would best suit my academic career for several reasons. NYU offers one of the best computer science programs in the nation. Furthermore, NYU's renowned core curriculum can expand my academic interests, as computer science is a major that can be implemented in a plethora of fields. In this way, I can participate in events and opportunities such as IACR and Google fellowships. In addition to learning from prestigious alumni such as David Korn. In essence, I hope to graduate from NYU, one of the nation's top computer science program to cultivate my passion to learn computer
When I visited University of San Diego a few years ago, I vaguely remember looking over the Mission Bay and the Sea world not far out. University of San Diego is located just a few miles away from downtown San Diego, the city offers a wide-range of activities including many world-class entertainment, major sport teams and beautiful sandy beaches just a few minutes away. But that is not why I am applying to University of San Diego.
Five year ago I was a lonely boy in a little town, uncertain of my future and eager to explore the world beyond the Dominican Republic. I didn’t expect my life to change, but I knew I wanted study in a place where my ideas could have impact. When I moved to New York City, my mind was exposed to a world of infinite possibilities, where my knowledge would be enriched by influential ideologies offered by New York’s diversity.
I am interested in NYU Steinhardt’s Department of Art for several reasons, the first being that I am extremely dedicated to fine arts. Being in a 4-year art program such as this would significantly help me develop my work and learn how to visually communicate my ideas more effectively. The main reason behind my desire to pursue this field of study is that art can send any message I want it to, and often say more than words can. It is so open ended, and will give me the freedom to emphasize any concept or idea that I become passionate about or will become relevant to me throughout my life. I believe that attending a school like NYU and living in a place like New York City that is so full of life and opportunity would be an amazing way to immerse
This graduate program offered at NYU is right for me right now in my life because
