Last night at Northridge high school the Newark Catholic Green Wave rolled in Johnstown looking to sing the hometown Northridge Vikings. So far this season for Newark Catholic it has been a very up and down season, where injuries have hurt this team but caused the coaching staff to build depth and for the Vikings it has been a season that have seen get a win over a,5-4 Minford team and posting two other wins. Facing a third and nine, with 5:53 left, Newark Catholic fed the beast known as,Kyle(4 STAR) Gibson and he easily picked up the first down, with a big gain. He looked like a man playing against boys in the the second half. A large part was because of the work of his offensive line, who seemed to play much better then they did in the opening half. Freshman Cody Crowder’s single put runners on the corners, and an error on a sacrifice bunt scored Zapata. Trinity then threw an error trying to turn a double play to allow another runner to score, and Guin’s two-out single put 11-0.
The Patriots (26-15) tied the game in the sixth at 4, then a three-run blast by Bishop over the right-field wall put UT Tyler ahead 7-4. Bishop and the top five in the UT Tyler order accounted for nine of the 12 hits to support six-different pitchers in the win.
Centenary led 42-37 midway through the third quarter until Texas Lutheran scored 11 straight. Savannah Hight converted a three-point play and Kasey Hairell hit a pair from the line to tie the game. Hairell made a layup, Madison Ray added a fastbreak layup off a steal, and Bailey Champion hit a jumper.

A kick from Anderson started the game, not long after, QB Lucas Smith runs a 18yd touchdown, starting the game out with a 7-0 Turpin lead. The Redskins’ Kyle Blaha soon persevered through the unforgiving Turpin defense and ran a 2 yd touchdown, evening out the score out 7-7. “Our offense and defense did well, but there’s always room for improvement.” Coach Kenter explained after Turpin gave up 21 points in the first half. “But I think this was one of better games of the entire season, the team really brought it.” Second quarter brought both the Spartans and Redskins 2 new touchdowns each and an exciting 65 yard pass Turpin touchdown, Smith to Will Hausfeld. On Monday, September 19 the Missouri Valley College women’s volleyball team played at home against William Penn University. Each round was very intense, especially because each of the opposing teams kept tying with one another. However, in the end, the Vikings were victorious in all three games with the following scores: 25-17, 25-17, 25-15.
In game two, Centenary fell behind 3-0 before scoring two in the fourth because of a key error and one more in the fifth. With two down in the fourth, senior Lizzie Moran hit a groundball to first that was misplayed to allow her to beat the throw. Moran stole second and scored on sophomore Wendy Gillet’s RBI hit. While trying to gun down Moran at the plate, Gillet moved to second and scored on freshman Ashley Albright’s hit.
In the second half the BC defense closed its gaps and got the ball back in Flutie’s hands. Flutie was able to start a comeback. This moved the score two 19-18. It seemed as though hope had been revived in the fourth quarter when an 80-yard run by Baldiviez put some points up on Dana’s end of the board. With 49 seconds remaining, Junior Corey Cisowski found Senior Ryder Lynch who finished off the game with a 6-yard touchdown.
The Patriots attempted 12 shots with 8 of those shots being on goal. UVF limited the opportunities for the Cannoneers. Pratt only managed 7 shots throughout the contest. The Patriots improve their record to 2-9 on the season.
Again Trenton pushed their way to the one yard line and Montrez Jackson carried in the second touchdown(Mannerstedt with the extra point). Jackson also scored again in the first quarter when Quarterback Michael Smith tossed him the ball, where he then ran in and scored from the eight yard line. The kick by Mannerstedt was good bringing the score to 21-0 at the end of the quarter.
