Descriptions of the NSP process at the school: The Next Step Plan begins upon entering NMVA and is unique to each grade level, so that students grow with the document. During orientation week, students complete a Next Step Plan survey, readiness assessment and interest inventory. Homeroom teachers review survey and inventory to determine discussion items and readiness assessment to determining correct placement. During the “Welcome” meeting, the student’s course path for the year is reviewed. Students will set a personal and academic goal, creating action plans that brings in community and family support if needed. Assessments for graduation requirements are summarized. “Pathfinder” or Connect is a comprehensive software program that NMVA students utilize every year and it follows them through their course of study. It aligns strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, and navigates students through the process of college applications, scholarships, career and community planning and provides a multitude of resources for the families and students. The Graduation Plan tool, is a new all-inclusive program that NMVA will utilize for the first time in the Spring Next Step meetings. In the past, we utilized a school-produced form to track credits and assessments. The new tool will provide real-time information to families on student’s grad track, credits earned, gaps, transfer credits, current progress as well as document all assessment information for graduation. The program conducted a parent and student orientations during the week of August 24th. We had about 100 parents in attendance and broke up the group by class year. We provided a parent/handbook in both Spanish and English. This year's goal was to focus on students' grade point average. It was explained that success in the program this year was defined by having a grade point average of a 3.0 or better and how parents could support their children with this goal.
The current partners of this program are Northern Virginia Community College, Maricopa Community College, Bunker Hill Community college, Houston Community College, City College of San Francisco, and College of
Keeping in line with Marietta College’s statement on Diversity and Inclusion, it is important to map out a plan to make sure we are living up to the mission of the college. In order to fulfill this mission, it is necessary to have students from diverse backgrounds represented on campus. However, having students on campus is only one aspect of D&I work. Understanding the make-up of the college and the surrounding city, it is necessary to ensure these students have the support to be retained through graduation. In this effort, I propose the creation of a three part program that will assist in this effort. This plan will involve

The policy I propose is an intrusive advisement plan for first-generation undeclared freshmen called The “College and Career Explorer Program.” The policy incorporates three important components of well-developed policy, including a clear purpose, a clearly defined plan, and a plan for consistent implementation. The policy includes a detailed mission, a definition of whom exactly the policy serves, and the steps to take to make sure it is implemented successfully. In this particular case, there are guidelines for what the participating advisors are expected to do, such as contacting the students, and a timeline of when contact should take place. A training program to set the program up for success by making appropriate and consistent information available and an evaluation is also included so success can be measured. The policy is formatted based on the University of California, Davis policy template found at http://manuals.ucdavis.edu/resources/GuidetoWritingPolicy.pdf.
I do think that a 504 plan would help in addressing the skills that need to be remediated. A 504 plan is the most effective plan that spells out the modification and accommodations that will be needed for students with a disability who is not getting special education services to have an opportunity to perform at the same level as their peers. In elementary school, a twice-exceptional gifted learner could be place in a classroom that receive additional support so he/she can be remediated on skills that he/she has a deficiency and still be pulled out for gifted services. I am not sure of what happens in middle and high school but a twice-exceptional gifted learner can still explore any intervention programs that the school offer.

Parents along with their child are the main part of this plan. As a parent or guardian they have the most knowledge on the student’s abilities and future goals. The parents will help the child complete an age appropriate assessment which asks questions regarding their likes dislikes preferences and interests. Along with the student, the parents must also fill out a forty six item assessment tool to measure the students’ knowledge and maturity on transitions and placement. A parent or guardian must also be open about the placement of the child when they graduate. This may include living at home or seeking an assisted
