Dave Pelzer has endured so much in his past. The years of abuse that seemed like a never ending maze of torture, were like a routine of beatings to him. The wicked games that his mother played on him and the bizarre ways of practicing them, felt like an eternity for a 12 year old boy. Nevertheless, for every darkest storm there is a shining ray. The ray of hope that has fueled Pelzer's motivation to strive for the best, for his freedom, and for a brighter future. Pelzer's journey to finding the power to continue begins by acceptance; accepting the fact that he is an abuse victim. Once the acceptance has been initialized, the healing process begins to take place.

When you see yourself living out your dream, the thought of what you're most passionate about pulls you in. Passions in one's life change based on what had affected that person. Dreams are defined to change. However, the benefits of these thoughts is that they belong to you and only you. Not one person's opinions matter but your own. Chris McCandless simply was living out his own ideal life, the way he wanted; not to the idea of his parents, his friends or of society. McCandless wanted to escape society and civilization which he felt was tying him down, while also trying to discover himself. McCandless is not by any means a wacko. He was simply defying society and its ideal expectation it holds upon us as a whole.

For Victor, growing up on a reservation was not easy. Multiple times he experienced discrimination, on and off the reservation. His second grade teacher decided to punish him instead of rewarding him for his phenomenal grade on a spelling test. The Roaring Twenties, as they were known, were a time of scandal and mayhem in America. From the hilariously obeyed Prohibition to the new roles of women, the twenties were the personification of a rebellious teenager. It comes to no surprise then that one of the most infamous authors of the twenties, F. Scott Fitzgerald, wrote mainly one that rebelliousness. Ezer hounded Navie about how his magic made him reckless and stupid, about how simple bandits had made him fell from the horse, how that same horse flew away from him...
