I agree with Nietzsche’s quote: “The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” I believe that Nietzsche is saying that since time began, there has always been a majority, which would be the tribe. There has always been someone or a group of people that have been against this majority, or are not afraid to go against the majority despite possible consequences. By going against the majority the individual risks being alone in their stance, but essentially gets the reward of being theirself. A historical example that I believe applies to Nietzsche’s quotes is the Civil Rights Movement, particularly Rosa Parks. Parks was an African-American women, who, at the time, did not have the same rights as white people due to the color of her skin. In 1955, due to the whites-only section being filled on a bus, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the colored section to a white person. Parks was arrested for these actions, as were a few others who took the same actions. Due to this historical event, Parks was motivated to bring change to people of color and she eventually joined forces with Martin Luther King Jr. in …show more content…

In the books, the main character, Katniss Everdeen, stands up against the totalitarian government that she lives in. While initially she doesn’t want the role of a national hero, she eventually decides to take on the challenge to give her loved ones a better life. Katniss faces challenge after challenge to defeat the highest power in the government, President Snow. Katniss’ decision to stand up against the government ultimately leads to consequences, such as the death of her little sister due to bombs, but it also leads to her future with her own family in a better
