It is an American Multinational Corporation engaged in the manufacturing, promotion, sale, and distribution of all kinds of athlete footwear, apparel, sports equipment, accessories and related services. Headquartered in Washington County, Oregon; Nike has expanded its operations to all the corners of the World. It was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and renamed as Nike, Inc. in 1978. The company has more than 44,000 employees working in its Headquarters, regional and country offices, production units, and retail outlets. Nike mostly uses its own brand name for its products. However, there are other top recognized brands which are fully owned and marketed by Nike, Inc. including Nike+, Nike Golf, Hurley, Air Jordan, Umbro, Converse, Nike Pro, Nike Skateboarding, Cole Haan, and Jordan Brand (Nike, Inc. 2012). Nike also operates its own retail stores in different local and international markets. The name which it uses for its retail stores is Niketown.
