After the two parted ways with each other Tesla received funding from his company to create arc lighting. Arc lighting is a lamp or light bulb that produces light by an electrical arc. Tesla had to work as a manual laborer in order to survive. In 1887 Tesla became interested in the AC Electrical System; he got funding from his company that forced him out into manual labor. At the end of the year he got several patents for AC inventions. Tesla’s AC invention patents were bought by George Westinghouse for $60,000 in cash and stock in the Westinghouse Corporation. Also because of this Tesla was put in direct competition with Thomas Edison who was intent on selling his direct-current systems to the nation, Edison soon started running a campaign that was negatively directed at Tesla in undermining the AC power. Tesla found no disregard and continued his working on his inventions that got seven more patents during that time, not limited but including the infamous Tesla Coil which works with wireless technological things we use in radios technology today.
