Technology Research Paper The Nintendo is a truly fascinating system. With a lot of history you may not have heard of, and with the Nintendo coming very far in the gaming world with the system’s and company’s progression as well as the systems after it, it is a very cool system altogether that I enjoy thoroughly. Nintendo was not always the sweet gaming company of today; it was originally the Marufuku Company, founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi, and they made paper playing cards, believe it or not, called Hanafuda cards. The Marufuku Company had originally made these cards for Russian prisoners during the Russian-Japan war of 1904 to 1905. After this, they started exporting these cards to Japanese towns in South America, Korea, and Australia. This …show more content…
In 1951, the company changed the name to Nintendo, which, in Japan, has a proverbial meaning which is "You work hard but, in the end, it's in heaven's hands." Later, since there was a shortage in the paper they used for the cards, they switched to using plastic for their cards instead. Business was booming, and Nintendo started mass producing their cards; they even made an agreement with Disney to release playing cards with Disney characters on them. Nintendo wanted to expand their business, so later a new game plant was built in Uji city, a suburb in Kyoto, Japan. They were so popular that they even started making board games as well as playing cards. Then, they started creating laser-projection games, like a laser clay pigeon shooting system. After this, in 1978, Nintendo came up with coin-operated games using microcomputers. Later, in the 1980’s, Nintendo started selling the Game and Watch system, which was made of liquid crystals and digital quarts micro hardware. Through this time period, Nintendo focused on the development and marketing of home video technology. Since they were so popular, Nintendo decided to expand into America. This led to the Famicom (short for family computer) which was found in all of at least 35 percent of homes in …show more content…
After the NES, there was the Game Boy, which came out in 1989, which is Nintendo's second-highest selling console. Then, in 1990, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES, came out and sold 49.1 million systems. Then came the Virtual Boy in 1995, the Nintendo 64, or N64, in 1996, and the GameCube in 2001. With even more systems came the Nintendo DS in 2004, the Wii in 2006, the Wii U in 2012, and after a few other systems including, the 2DS, the 3DS, and the 3DS XL, came the most current system, the Switch, which was presented to the world in 2017, and has many redone games because the graphics are pretty realistic. And this is how far the NES has come over the
With innovation on his mind,Yamauchi branched out into a number of other, less lucrative endeavors, including an instant-rice company and a pay-by-the-hour “love hotel.” These disappointments led Yamauchi to the conclusion that Nintendo’s greatest asset was the meticulous distribution system that it had built over decades of selling playing cards. With such an intricate and expansive pipeline already in place, he narrowed his entrepreneurial scope to products that could be sold in toy and department stores and settled upon a new category called

The Nintendo Gamecube had a successful lifespan that were building blocks Nintendo still uses today. Sega stopped production of their home video game
It was said to suck the life out of the Earth. Henk Rogers was a foreigner who tried to enter the gaming industry in Japan. He created a computer version of the famous role-playing game, Dungeons and Dragons. In Japan, there is a game called go, which is supposed to be similar to chess but with endless strategies and more thought. Rogers wanted to get a license from Nintendo to make a computer version of the game compatible with the Famicom system. Yamauchi agreed. To become a licensee of Nintendo and produce games compatible with the Famicom, each company had to agree with outrageous terms such as giving Nintendo a large proportion of their sales. Namco was the first licensee and Pac-Man became available on the Famicom. Yamauchi wanted to link the Famicom’s together so people could play with each other from their own homes. It was not as successful as he had hoped it would be, but he believed that someday people would be ready for the development (David Sheff,
You may be wondering where it all started, where it all came from. Well I have the answer you see it all started back in September 23 1889, a young man named Fusajiro Yamauchi opened a small store in the middle of Kyoto. He was very young (he only just turned 13) but he none the less was the first owner of Nintendo. He didn’t just go straight to games, and he didn’t want to be like any other shops selling normal everyday good such as silk and tea. He wanted to be unique and start selling a product that the government had just legalized. Can you guess what it is? That’s right nothing more than cards. But these weren’t just some ordinary card these where Nintendo cards as seen in picture #1. You can see how different they were sure there where
Nintendo first started out as a playing card company that would soon grow into one of the largest video game company in the world. Shigeru Miyamoto created one of Nintendo’s most well-known iconic characters: Mario. Mario made his first appearance in Donkey Kong named as Jumpman. With the graphic limitations at the time Mario’s design was simple and consisted of red overalls, a blue shirt, large nose, and a mustache. A beloved character by all, Mario with his simplistic games, has made an impact on those who have played them. Mario continues to play a role in their lives. To this day, Nintendo depends on their widely known mascot to help them succeed in the gaming industry.

When the NES came out Nintendo started a licensing company for third party games to produce their games in Nintendo factories. After the NES was created Nintendo redesigned the Famicom (the game cartridge) to look like a VHS tape to help grip the system grip it better. Also, the rarest game in NES history is the boxed version of Stadium Events, “but only a handful of boxed, complete copies have ever been seen in the wild, and they can fetch anywhere from $35,000-45,000 at auction” (www.usgamer.net). The best selling game in NES history was Super Mario Bros as it sold a total of 40 million copies (www.usgamer.net). Before the NES came along, Donkey Kong was the king of gaming. The reason for this is because arcades were the only way to play at the time. Luckily, NES games were playable in the arcades. Games like Ninja Gaiden and Super Mario Bros were stretched into the arcades by a system called Play-Choice10. In conclusion, the NES was part of a revolution in
After see how successful video games were becoming they began to dabble in them originally with systems like the color TV game 6. In the 70's Nintendo began to head to America to cash in on the growing arcade market but his Japanese games weren't a him in the states so he turned to Shigeru Miyamoto who released his most recent project Donkey Kong (Walker, J)which was the smash hit Nintendo need and they set up an American branch of the company. Hiroshi's methods were controversial at best in fact he set up three different research and development units meant to compete with one another which gave the world different but successful ideas One of his best ideas was known as Famicom but in America it was referred to as the Nintendo entertainment system one of the first systems that ran multiple game through a cartridge for the system Hiroshi was the only one to decide what games were to be released which is believed to one of the best decisions due to his great insight on what people in the future would want. After the super Nintendo an update on the Nintendo entertainment system the company released the virtual boy one of the biggest flops the company has taken It was a 32 bit 3d table top console.

This almost destroyed the gaming industry before the technology could even develop. In 1985, in the shadow of the game industry crash, Nintendo Entertainment System released the Nintendo or NES, an eight bit processor that revitalized the U.S. video game industry (Inc). From that point on the gaming industry has exploded, with gaming systems today that are so detailed that they make the audience question if what they are seeing is real or not.
In March 1980, the video game industry had made an attempt to adapt to the everyday lives of people. Atari created the first successful in-home video game console called the Atari 26001. This 8-bit game console had the ability to bring the fun of the arcade to the comfort of home. The Atari 2600 used game cartridges as seen to the left. These cartridges were compact and almost unbreakable. Each cartridge’s outside had a scene from the game with a short description of what the game was about. By the mid 80’s there was a great array of games for the Atari 2600 but there was also competition. In 1985 Nintendo created its own 8-bit video game console called the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The NES had games like The Mario Brothers and Donkey King. NES had blown up in Singapore but in America it was another story. The NES was too
