Privacy has always been an issue in classrooms, but now with more and more students having access to a cell phone with a camera built in, these issues are becoming more apparent and with a greater intensity. Cell phones with a camera, also known as a “camera phone”, provide students with an opportunity to quickly send an incriminating or embarrassing photo to a vast number of people in a short period of time. This is not just a concern for teacher’s privacy, but it is also a concern regarding bullying; students now have access to an entirely new form of bullying by sending pictures or texts to the person that is being bulled. Privacy issues are inevitable, and will always be a problem in a school setting; therefore, privacy cannot be the sole reason to ban cell phones from school.
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
If your are allowed a cell phone in school and you get caught doing something you shouldn't, you could get in trouble. If cell phones weren't allowed in school there wouldn't be problems over the phone. If you have a phone in class it is a distraction from your learning. If your were a teacher would you want your students to have phones. Students would be on their phone while they should be doing homework. As students we go to school for seven hours. In those seven hours there is no reason they need to be on there phone. School is for learning, not looking at a phone.
Who doesn't have a cell phone these days? It is so much more than just calling and texting. They are so great for personal use and educational use . Today most people have the top of line phones to use like iPhone and Androids . If we are not allowed to use our phones, than they just go to waste. I think that students should be able in school to use them for educational purposes . Cell phones are great for staying in contact with people but also for school related purposes. So they are, great in that respect.
From personal experience, I can say that high school students are going to have cell phones in class regardless of the punishments associated with getting caught; the main reason is that they seldom get caught. With one teacher and roughly thirty students, it is easy to sneak by the teacher’s gaze and send a text message here or there or find the score to the big game that you missed. Michael Rich, pediatrician and media expert, says, “Pandora’s box is open here… What we need to do is take control of them instead of them control us” (Teachers vs. Texting). To help reduce these disruptions from occurring, we need to incorporate cell phones into high school classroom with the other technologies to promote interactive and kinesthetic learning.
Has your cell phone ever gone off in class during a test or when the teacher was teaching? Mobile devices have been accessible all around the world for the past 10 years, but neither school officials nor the legislators have yet come to a clear resolution on allowing students to use them at school. This led to more unsolved issues and debates concerning the use of cell phones. Cell phones were invented to be able to connect to families and friends in an instant across the world. Permitting students to have cell phones on school grounds, parents are able to call or text their children to see how they are doing in school and vice versa. Allowing students to use their cell phones at school is beneficial such that it provides instant communication and convenience, personal safety, and can even be a learning tool.
Although some people think that if phones are allowed in school the students will play games and text each other during class. They also would find it as a distraction to the students that don’t have phones. Though it would be pretty hard for students to play games and text each other if the teachers are monitoring their class to make sure that the students are doing what they're supposed to do.
Cell phones are amazing things that allow us to so many great things, but are causing us to loose sight to what really matters? Cell phones should not be allowed to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make us lose touch with reality.
Phones being allowed in the classroom are tempting for students. Students feel a vibration in their pockets and feel the need to check their phones. Apps for example snapchat will flash the camera light when the student receives a snap from someone.
Almost all children have their personal devices in school. 85% of kids from the ages 14-17 own a phone and 94% of them bring their phones to school.
In each school there are absurd rules; ours by far has the most. Ok I get it, the staff is trying to us learn with a cleaner environment, but they have to be able to understand that phones CAN help you learn! Phones give us opportunities to hold many useful things such as calculators, passwords, and our schedules. I can see that they would want to take it away because it is “distracting”, but I honestly think that it is more distracting not having it then actually having it, now all we can think about is checking our phones. Although much of the public debate is against it, there are pros associated with allowing cell phones in school. These advantages should not be ignored since cellphones in schools can actually add value to the
I think that it is okay to bring a phone in school and in class, but the teacher should only give the students one minute to look at their phone so that they will not get distracted while the teacher is teaching. Most of the things we do in our everyday lives includes phone, phone also helps us to search for information, I think phone should only be allowed when you have something to search on subject related.
It has became very common for kids to have phones. There are young kids that rely on having a phone around to have fun. Teenagers never put their phones down. Students should not be allowed to have phones in elementary and high school.
Many American youth today have high-tech cell phones that are carried around with them everywhere. These cell phones allow them to check social media, message their friends, and even cheat on homework. In class, students are often preoccupied by their cell phones when they should be engaged in classroom activities. Today, I believe that cell phones are a great distraction for students. I think that students should be required to drop any personal device into a basket upon entering a classroom. In the school handbook, it says that students are allowed to use their cell phone during their lunch period, before or after school, and during passing periods. I agree that during free time, students should be allowed to check their phones. This would allow them to see any messages they may have gotten from parents or friends, which could be important. While I completely agree with the school rule, it is not enforced, making it useless. Kids are seen all throughout the day texting, taking pictures,
To continue, I would modify the existing policy to another less harsh strategy. The strategy I would imprint would require the teacher to give the student a warning if he or she is caught with her or his phone out during class.
