Believe it or not, this was the first paper I wrote in about a year. Receiving this assignment, I had to really think about how to approach this assignment since it has been so long. My approach to this assignment was to first decide who I want my three audiences to be. After that, decide the word that I wanted to define for them. I choose the word digital literacy. Deep down I knew what digital literacy meant, but I wanted to be sure because it is so broad of a term. I had to do a bit of research to confirm my suspicions of the word. Then I imagined myself explaining the term as if I am talking to the intended audience. In doing this, I would put the thought down and as a result, the first draft was completed. As I was reading my first draft I also noticed how distracting the section titles were. It really made me lose focus as I was reading, so I decided to take it out. Trevor mentioned about my use of the technique Etymology, and how my use of the technique confused the reader. I read what I wrote, and he was right about it being confusing. My usage of it was not clear and concise, so I edited in a way to try to explain the origin of the word and transition into the definition of digital literacy. Another point I would like to point out is my peers and the tutor thought that my audience was too broad. They read my audience analysis and had trouble understanding who my audience was. Kathryn said, “For your audience analyses, really focus more on who you are talking to (focus more on broad background terms then specific names).” She along with the tutor thought my audience is too broad and that I should really narrow it down. Originally my audience analysis 1 was meant for the club members but their suggestions were to mention that the members are STEM majors which will give the reader an idea of who and what the audience
