Nuclear power plants and nuclear energy is a very controversial and very argued about topic. People on both sides have come to the table with very legit and convincing argument. Nuclear power plants and nuclear power is one of or the best green energy sources for working to get of fossil fuel for the following reasons. Nuclear power plants and nuclear power is one of the cheapest forms of green energy, Nuclear power plants have the technology to burn most of the nuclear waste the plant creates, Nuclear power plants are one of the most condense forms of fuel of all the power plants, And nuclear power can be harnessed to do many other things Nuclear power plants are one of the cheapest energy creators for how much energy the power plants …show more content…
Nuclear power is shut down by many people without them even knowing how it actually creates energy. Nuclear power is pretty basic when it comes to power plants they use rods of uranium heat them up by using nuclear fission (Two atoms create new atoms creating atoms and power). When the rods get warmed up to a certain temperature the water surrounding the nuclear rods create steam which turn a big turbine and create electricity without creating carbon emissions. The fact people shut down nuclear power without even knowing how the energy can and is being created is one of the problem that nuclear power is facing. It's not the people hating nuclear energy it's the people not knowing what nuclear power is.
Nuclear energy can also do many things than just create energy. Nuclear energy creates heat and when the heat is created it can create steam and water vapor so it can take saltwater boil it and create power and clean water for different third world countries. Nuclear energy can also create many different styles of job for the starving job market. The nuclear power industry is also due for a update. Creating different nuclear and more advance power plants. That will lead to construction jobs in high demand and many different types of
Attention Getter: When most people think of nuclear energy, the first thing that comes to their minds is a devastating bomb explosion or a nuclear power plant meltdown. But, in reality, nuclear energy is a sustainable energy source that has an enormous variety of uses.
The first advantage of nuclear energy is that it is one of the cleanest sources of energy available to us now. The process of fission doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases or emissions that are linked to global warming. Nuclear energy is currently the largest clean air energy source. It currently occupies 63.3 percent of the emission free electricity in the United States, and this must continue to get expanded upon. With increased use of nuclear energy comes a decreased use in fossil fuels, which would result in a lower carbon footprint for the U.S. This would help slow down the impact of global warming and climate change.
Nuclear power plants are a safe, clean and reliable source of energy production. They are uniquely qualified to meet the growing demand for energy in the USA.
In a 2015 study, fifteen percent of all of Canada’s electricity comes from nuclear reactors, primarily in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. That is equivalent to 100,500,000,000 kWh of energy generated just from nuclear energy every year! Nuclear energy generates a lot of energy compared to the amount it costs. The cost of nuclear energy has remained low for many decades, usually being about 7 cents per kWh (kilowatt hour). The average cost of creating 1 kWh is roughly 11 cents, meaning nuclear energy is cheaper than most energy sources. Figure 1.1 demonstrates the cost per kWh from many sources of energy that we use in Canada. Uranium is used in most nuclear reactors costs 100 dollars per kilogram in Canada, which is relatively cheap compared
Firstly, the usage of nuclear power is consistent and plentiful. As we know, the reaction of nuclear can emit a great power of energy, it can support vast of families’ and enormous plants’ working. In addition, unlike solar energy and wind power, which depend on external factors, nuclear power is consistent generate at anytime and anywhere. Secondly, since the nuclear power is easy to produce and it also can generate a huge amount of power, it is much cheaper to use it. What’s more, like Hill’s saying, “with the cost of natural gas and oil soaring”, the nuclear plants have return back to work and produce massive energy. Lastly, nuclear power benefits to environment: not only because it does not produce the carbon emissions, which can alleviates the global warming; but also it reduces the noxious byproducts, like sulfur dioxide, which is main reason of air pollution. Therefore, using the nuclear power is an ideal energy resource for human
Nuclear power is a much greener option than others, and can help prevent the devastating effects of fossil fuels on the environment. Burning fossil fuels releases thousands of tons of GHGs (greenhouse gasses) into the air that cause a variety of serious environmental problems. The emissions cause global warming which leads to the melting of polar ice caps and the raising of oceans. This also causes acid rain and air pollution which pollutes water sources, accelerates erosion and damages ecosystems (Pacific
The advantage of of Nuclear Power is that it doesn’t depend on fossil fuels and is not affected by the erratic oil and gas prices. Coal and natural gas in other power plants emit carbon dioxide, whereas nuclear power plants emit minimal carbon dioxide. Nuclear fission produces a million times more energy per unit weight than fossil fuel alternatives.
Nuclear energy is eco-friendly as it can reduce climate change. One significant benefit is that nuclear energy produces a low amount of carbon dioxide. Figure 3 shows the potential rate of carbon emission from different electricity generation such as, coal, oil, natural gas, renewable sources (wind, hydro, and solar power), and nuclear energy. The lowest potential rate of carbon dioxide emission (CO2) is Nuclear power.
Nuclear power plants are one of the cheapest energy creators for how much energy the power plants creates. In terms of energy Kilowatt hour is a unit of measurement for electricity. A kilowatt hour is 1000 watts an hour. Knowing that we can now I can show you how much coal and oil is to make. For coal the cost to make a Kilowatt hour is more than a 2.07 dollars. And oil comes in at a 3.18 . And natural gas is 3.52. Nuclear powers price is less than one cent which is significantly lower than the competitors prices. Nuclear power is a cheap and can put out more clean and
If everybody changed their mind soon enough everybody will be wanting nuclear power plants. Another good thing that comes out of nuclear energy is it would cost 2.10 cents per kilowatt and petroleum was 21.56 cents. Scientist have figured out what is causing global warming and that is greenhouse gasses. A great number of people think that nuclear energy contributes to a number of greenhouse gasses. Those people are wrong because nuclear energy only let's a fraction of what oil or coal does. Situations can happen with any sort of energy making machine, but luckily nuclear has the best security out of all of them. Over the past years, they have added plan after plan for emergencies and procedures.
As each year passes, more and more electricity will be made as a result of increased nuclear power plants around the world. The economic benefits of nuclear energy are equally advantageous as the environmental aspects.
The world's natural resources are being consumed at an alarming rate. As these resources diminish, people will be seeking alternative sources by which to generate electricity for heat and light. The only practical short-term solution for the energy/pollution crisis should be nuclear power because it is available, cleaner and safer.
The way a nuclear power plant produces energy is by a process called nuclear fission which is splitting the nucleus of an atom. Fission turns water into steam and the steam makes pressure. Then the steam that is made turns a turbine that is connected to a generator and the turning of the turbine forces the generator to produce electricity (“Nuclear Fission”). The energy source for a nuclear power plant is Uranium and it is a very rare resource. Once it’s gone then it’s gone forever and when that happens then we cannot produce anymore nuclear energy. Depending on the demand of Uranium, it is estimated that this element will only last another thirty to sixty years. I am not for nuclear energy because I think that the cons out weigh the pros.
Nuclear Energy is one of the most accomplished and efficient forms of energy. It produces more energy than coal, geothermal energy, solar energy, and many other energies, making it very powerful. The main energy that it produces is electricity. It produces its main energy without greenhouse gas emissions. Most important of all, it produces its electricity without pollution. Therefore, making it one of the cleanest forms of energy production.
Nuclear energy could be the future of energy and potentially solve the energy crisis problem. Nuclear energy is a sustainable energy source and it can provide millions of times the amount of energy output from a fixed mass of fuel than any other energy source, such as fossil fuel, for the same mass of fuel. Nuclear energy is also very clean for the atmosphere. It produces no greenhouse gases at all. However, nuclear energy can be very harmful to both people and the rest of the natural environment if not managed well. Nuclear meltdowns etc. can release
