Good afternoon Susan,
I can totally relate to your discussion post because I feel Florida is one of the most restrictive places for a nurse practitioner to practice. Nurse practitioners, being highly educated and experienced in the field of nursing, are given prescriptive authority to varying degrees across the United States. According to Sabatino, Pruchnicki, Sevin, Barker, Green and Porter (2017) the extent of a nurse practitioner’s prescriptive authority largely varies by the schedule of the drug in question, with some states allowing a larger degree of prescriptive authority to nurse practitioners and some regulating this prescriptive authority more closely. As of January 2017, the Governor of Florida Rick Scott signed legislation bill
Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who have received special courses and training. They usually work closely with doctors and can perform many high-level primary care tasks. They often specialize in specific types of practice such as pediatrics, psychiatry, or obstetrics. Some establish private practices; however, most work in doctors' offices, hospitals, or neighborhood health centers. Their duties often include taking detailed medical histories and performing complete physical exams, providing diagnoses and recommending treatment plans, treating common medical conditions, illnesses, and injuries, prescribing limited medications, and counseling patients and families. They also care
The Salary of an RN is about $36.94 per hour, but the work schedule of a nurse is crazy. Nurses never really get a break especially floor nurses. I have talked to quite a few nurses and they have said that since you don’t truly get a break you tend to gain weight do to constantly eating/snacking. The education needed to be a Registered Nurse would be a Bachelor Degree which is a four year process. To be a Registered Nurse or RN you will need no training. On the job you will administer basic health care which is a temporary health coverage program for low-income, uninsured United States citizens or permanent legal residents of Contra Costa County. As an RN you will being giving patients intravenous medications. An intravenous
The health care industry is experiencing a surge in the number of baby-boomers needing health care and increased demands on the physicians providing the care. This trend has made the role of Advanced practice providers more important (cite). It is imperative to understand the differences and similarities in the advanced practice provider roles as it pertains to healthcare. This paper will identify specialty nursing roles including advanced practice registered nurses (APRN). It will further compare and contrast the advanced practice nurse (APN) and physician assistant (PA) roles in practice.
According to the Texas, Nurse Practitioner can be well defined as a registered nurse who has advanced education and clinical training in a specialty area. They provide as a primary healthcare provider from children to the elderly population patients. They can address both acute and chronic disease conditions in the patients. Texas is more thorough and complete than the other states according to my own individual research. Board Rule 221 requires that one identifies the advanced practice role and population focus area for which you have been licensed as an advanced practice registered nurse by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Quality patient care relies on having an educated workforce. There is a growing body of evidence that shows that the Bachelor of Science Nursing graduate brings unique skills to their work as nursing clinicians and play an important role in the delivery of safe patient care. In addition to having basic nursing fundamentals nurse’s today are expected to take a huge part and lead professional initiatives that drive towards improving the safety, quality, and efficiency of care that is delivered to patients.
The medical field has to be ran by the utmost wonderful nurses. Nurse Practitioners (NP) are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide care to patients throughout the lifespan, all the way from premature newborns to the elderly. Physician Assistants (PA) practice medicine on a team under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. A nurse practitioner has a more rewarding career then a physician assistant because of the education requirements, commission, job abilities, training and advancements in career.
My name is Leonardo Mastache, of Cuban origins, and I have been a nurse for exactly ten years. Most of my work have been in medical surgical and telemetry. About eight years ago I relocated from the crowded city of Miami to Naples, Florida, which I find to be a pleasant place to live in. Here I work at Naples Community Hospital (NCH), and recently transferred to an oncology unit to gain some understanding of how to work with patients that have been diagnosed with different types of cancer.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has identified nine essentials that are incorporated into master’s nursing programs to help direct the practice of advanced practice nurses (APN’s). Essential II outlines how an APN can utilize organizational and systems leadership to promote safer and more cost effective care. By incorporating effective leadership skills, APN’s can help transform healthcare and make quality improvements for the patient, the institution, and the community. According to the American Association of College of Nursing (2011), an effective leader assumes and applies “the skills of communication, collaboration, negotiation, delegation, and coordination” (p. 11). APN’s must be able to establish and maintain a healthy
IntroductionThis article touches up on many main points in Nurse Assisting. Authors talk about manynew ways to implement change in Long Term Care Originations. They talk about teamwork, training, and enhancing work strategies. I definitely agreed with this article, with wanting to be aCNA and depending on where I end up working I think it is good that people are wanting tomake these changes.DevelopmentSome key points in this article were how integrating new recruits to manage heavyworkloads in LTCOs can be hard to manage, the enhancements of informal work strategies, andthe debate on if teamwork is a “deterrent to change” or a “lever for change”. Somethings I foundstriking about this article was the heavy load management. In the article one nurse assistantexplained that during training they are told to take all the time the need, but when you startworking in the organization they are told they have 45 minutes with a resident, but actually haveno more than 15 minutes.
Compare and contrast the two definitions of advanced practice nursing as defined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) DNP Essentials, the APRN consensus model, and as defined in the textbook reference below. a)Explain the two factors you think are the most important in your textbook’s definition of advanced practice nursing. b)Chapter 3 will be attached to instructions. Definition of APN on this Chapter c) APA style and use citations and references (3) immediate attachment: Please, review this discussion sample to write my paper (Same topic)
Family Nurse Practitioners(FNPs) are Registered Nurses who serve as a primary healthcare provider and or specialty healthcare providers under a physician. They function much like a family practice physician, wherein they work with patients throughout their lives, conduct examinations, prescribe medicine, and diagnose illnesses. Unlike a Registered Nurse, however a Family Nurse Practitioner can serve as a patient’s primary healthcare provider and can run their own practices. A Family Nurse Practitioner provides a different healthcare path for patients and further job and education opportunities for Nurses. With this, nurses can work in a more diverse number of healthcare settings with a broad and varied patient population. Family
Allowing nurses to conquest more duties could help to save billions of dollars in medical care costs, which is why it’s appropriate for advanced practice nurses to complete more care on patients. Advanced practice nurses should complete care on patients at the furthest level of knowledge and training that the nurse has completed, then pass the rest of care onto the physician, that has completed further knowledge and training on the subject of matter. Different types of advanced-practice nurses, consist of nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, and nurse midwives. Due to a variety of different advanced-practice nurses, specialty nurses could help lower the cost of medical care by nurses completing
I am a highly motivated licensed practical nurse pursuing an RN degree simply because I believe this field offers diverse knowledge and skills that are relevant to the modern day which is more diverse compared to LPN. This short scenario is an example of the how the nursing care I have provided has influenced my career and my decision to continue my education. I had a seventy-one-year-old male patient with primary medical history of 99% occlusion in the carotid artery and intermittent chest pain admitted to my facility for conservative treatment following hospitalization for an unwitnessed fall and was found to have subdural hematoma and multiple facial bone fractures. Patient had no evacuation and no coronary cauterization and anti-platelet therapy. However, the patient had signed the advanced directive form for “full code” thirty-six hours after admission patient noted to have flat affect although he had no specific
The field I am going into is very versatile and large. I plan on going into the nursing field; I will be majoring as a nurse practitioner and minoring in orthopedic nursing. I plan on doing this because I have always been fascinated with the way the body works and how God designed us. When I was in eighth grade, I had patella tendonitis, and in eleventh grade I was diagnosed with clinical rheumatoid arthritis. Those events were what steered my dreams of being a nurse into a specific place. I am going into the field of nursing to learn about the problems my body has, to figure out how to help people with the same problems as me, and help people who face other diagnoses. In this paper, I will be describing the backstory
So many people say saving lives takes hard work and extensive training, but are they really dedicated to do the work it takes. Medical school takes hard work and so much time to do the work as being a nurse. Being a nurse you have to have the heart and the great skills to be the best care giver you could be to a patient in need for help. Not only are you impacting someone else life but you are also impacting yourself with the great benefits they offer you, the way the patients acknowledge you by your hard work. Nurses make sure they have the care they need. Nursing is one of the most longest working shifts in the medical field you will ever experience.
