Though all of childhood is an exciting learning experience, the beginning of formal education whether a part-time nursery school program or a full day of kindergarten-is a momentous occasion. The best preparation is emotional in nature. The child who feels secure and loved and who has had experiences with developing positive relationships with adults and other children is well equipped to venture forth.
Nursery school and preschool are educational environments for preschoolers from age 2% to 4. Unlike childcare, which may also include appropriate educational experiences for preschoolers, nursery school and preschool are not full-day, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. programs. Most involve half- or full-day schedules that fall within the hours of a regular school day, or approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3 p m Some nursery school and preschool programs, however, do offer extended days to accommodate the schedules of working parents, and include such childcare routines as lunch and naptime. Nursery schools emphasize the teaching of social skills and, for 4-year-olds, kindergarten preparation. The terms "nursery school" and "preschool" are usually used interchangeably, although programs for 4 year olds are generally called preschools or pre-K programs.

Most families do not have the physical space or the equipment to allow a child to run, jump, climb, and play, whereas a good preschool is designed for such activities and has the right playground equipment right outside the door. A preschool generally has a wider variety of creative materials available than you have the resources or the space at home for. In addition, a nursery school teacher, trained in early childhood development, can guide your child in his social interactions and his use of play materials in appropriate ways. The preschool experience can also help prepare your child for the more formal setting of a

A parent may choose to send their child to a nursery school, who cater for 2 to 5 year olds, supplying both childcare and early years education. A nursery is usually attached with a primary school or sure start centre, and provides a stepping stone for children about to start school.
Providing children with an environment that nurtures their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development is the framework that will promote children’s optimal learning and development. Gaining knowledge about the child will help a teacher to develop and create programs that are suitable for the age and the stages of children’s development. Applying developmentally appropriate practices will support the excellence in early childhood education because it is based off of the knowledge of knowing each child as an individual and how they develop.

The first time you laid eyes on your precious little one, you most likely were mesmerized feelings of love and awe. Fast forward a few years and you might be wondering what demon has possessed your once angelic being. Perhaps now your baby seems to have more in common with a moody, hormonal teenager than the picture sweet, loving baby they once were. If this is true for your toddler, you aren’t alone. In fact, toddlers in general favor teenagers in many ways, some of which are listed below:
Preschool is something very important for toddlers. Preschools were established in Europe around the late 1800’s. They were later introduced to the United States in the 1920’s. According to the Encyclopedia of careers and vocational guidance 9th edition “preschools expanded rapidly in the united states during the 1960’s”.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) is also nursery education and is a branch of education theory which relates to the teaching of young children (formally and informally) up until the age of about eight. Infant/ toddler education, a subset of early childhood education, denotes the education of children from birth to age two. The history of early childhood care and education refers to the development of care and education of children between zero and eight years old throughout history. Early childhood education has a global scope, and caring for and educating young children has always been an integral part of human societies. Arrangements of fulfilling these societal roles have evolved over time and remain varied across cultures, often reflecting family and community structures as well as the social and economic roles of women and men. Historically, such arrangements have largely been informal, involving family, household and community members. Early childhood education is a board term used to describe any type of educational program that serves children in their preschool years, before they are old enough to enter kindergarten. Early childhood education may consist of any number of activities and experiences designed to aid in the cognitive and social development of preschoolers before they enter elementary school. How and where early childhood education is provided can be very different from one state to the next or even from one school to the next within the same

Preschool programs are designed specifically to make sure that children are ready for kindergarten and will be able to succeed in school by third grade. All preschool programs have three characteristics in common. They are governed by high program standards, are open to 3 and 4 year–olds, and focus on school readiness. The term universal preschool means that preschool programs are available to any child in a given state, regardless of family income, children’s abilities, or any other factors (Colker). Like Kindergarten in most states, the concept of the Universal Preschool Movement is to have a voluntary program, unlike compulsory elementary.
Preschools offer a variety of services including social skills, health, nutrition, and aids in developing basic cognitive skills for toddlers up to the age of four years. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), advocates excellence in early childhood education. According to the NAEYC, extensive research has proven that “a high quality developmentally appropriate early childhood programs produce short-and-long term positive effects on children’s cognitive and social development.”
The Early Childhood Education program at Carlow University focuses on educating children from birth to grade four in any context—school, family, or community. As a signature mark of the program, students learn how to honor diversity and form strong inclusive relationships between child and caregiver/teacher. They learn that a child’s environment needs to be rooted in trust; physically and psychologically safe. They learn that the caregiver/teacher relationship needs
It is a clear and worthy investment. The question lies in which preschool program is the most effective. Previous reviews of programs have focused on if they contributed to later success, but a few of them compared the programs on their effectiveness. A number of programs showed positive results continuing to the end of kindergarten and beyond, signifying that the preschool involvement had impacts aside from early exposure to academic content. (Johns Hopkins University, 37). Also, several programs had effects on oral language skills, which are emphasized in most preschools.

Child care centers are a great way to encourage a child to learn, and to be ready for the school atmosphere. “The Big Top Child Care Center” in Laurel, Maryland have an excellent program for children between two to nine years of age. Children can begin their learning experience in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten which are the first grades of elementary education. “ Ring Factory Elementary” located at Harford county in Maryland is a school that has three kindergarten classes that teach five to six year olds the beginning of their educational life.
