If one has a weak stomach, this career is not a good choice for them. Nursing is one of the most draining jobs there is out there but is also the most rewarding. A nurse may be treating a patient that has a common cold one day and the next they’re trying to save someone’s life.There are not a whole lot of jobs where one can actually save a life but this job is one of them. Nursing isn’t just fluffing pillows and waiting on the doctor’s orders. A nurse does almost the same exact thing as a physician and then some. This job is not only treating a patient when they are ill but a nurse may have to give a patient advice and emotional support when the patient needs it. I concluded that this job is one of the better fits for me. I love working around and with people. I would not consider myself to be an introvert because I would much rather spend a day around people rather than sitting in my room and reading a book. My Myers-Briggs Type Indicator showed that I was an extrovert. My results were ESTP which shows that I have a connection with others and I’m a people person. With the values survey it showed that I value money and recognition. In this field one can make a decent amount of money and can also get recognition for saving someone’s life or helping someone who was very ill get better. I like to be in control and I’m very decisive and I like to accomplish goals. This job offers me all of those fundamentals because I can be in control of my environment and it comes in handy to be decisive in this field because when prescribing medications I will have to be the one to make the decision which medication will work the best for them. A lot of the time my work style is all over the place and it shows alot when looking at my Holland Codes in MNCIS. Realistic and Investigative seemed to show up the most. Realistic means I like hands on problems which is perfect for this field. Investigative shows I like to deal with thinking and ideas. According to the United States Bureau of Labor statistics, the nursing profession is growing at a rapid rate. For an RN it’s showing that it’s growing at 19% which is much more than other professions. By 2022 there will be more than half of a million job openenings for the field of nursing. There may be even more by the time I will graduate college.The baby boomer generation is mostly the reason that the growth rate is so high. This generation of people are aging and living longer than ever and are going to need health care well into their 80’s and 90’s. As most of the population develops chronic conditions such as diabetes and asthma, more and more nurses will be needed to treat these
