In an organizational set up the statement of philosophy is defined as an explanation of the systems of beliefs that determine how a mission or a purpose is to be achieved and it states the beliefs, concepts and principles of an organization. To me all body parts are equally important to function effectively and efficiently same like a program philosophy ,vision, mission ,goals .value statement, all are equally important and are distinguishable but inseparable. The mission statement of an organization identifies the people who it serves and states the standards of practice, ethics, and principles for which it believes in. A nurse has the power and privilege to help patients who are hurting, both emotionally and physically. My mission is to be part of the solution by becoming a well-trained nurse through continuous educational and medical pursuits. For instance, I am actively pursuing volunteer and employment opportunities to work with the underserved because it is a true passion of mine. American Nurses Association (ANA) is a professional nursing organization representing 3.6 million registered nurses in the United States (ANA, About ANA, 2017). Formed over 100 years ago in 1911, ANA has been growing its membership and expanding its role in the nursing community. The association has a simple mission statement, “ Nurses advancing our profession to improve health for all” (ANA, American Nurses Association 2015 Annual Report, 2015, p. 1). Every individual typically holds a personal philosophy about life which includes beliefs and values that help shape our choices and lead us to specific life path or in a certain direction. In order to develop a philosophy of nursing a nurse must reflect on the characteristics that they abide by and by which they base their nursing care. A personal nursing philosophy produces an individual viewpoint for nursing care, research, and education (Hood, 2014). In order to have a personal philosophy or a nursing philosophy, a nurse needs to understand themselves. Not one philosophy is permanent, right, or wrong and a personal philosophy is subject to change at any time (Hood, 2014).

It is important to stay true to one’s personal, moral, and ethical values at all times. Nurses are morally and ethically responsible for their patients, decisions, and actions (Lindh, Barbosa, Berg, & Severinsson, 2010). I believed in your mission statement, especially, this part, “dedicated to provide high-quality, accessible medical care to underserved communities, regardless of their inability to pay.” I also believed that community health nursing is one of the best ways to reach the most vulnerable and under-served in our society. A philosophy is created to find truth and meaning. It requires evaluation and use of critical thinking as to why one’s nursing practice matters. The history of philosophy and theories allows me to evaluate my personal nursing philosophy. I believe that each person is their own individual. My way of practicing nursing is by using compassion, listening to my patients and trying to understand them. It is not just the body or the disease but rather the holistic nature of the patient. I believe that nursing deals with promotion of health and prevention of disease. Lifelong education, research and evidence based practice are all utilized in my profession of nursing and are all concepts important to my nursing care.
