As a little girl growing up, I watched my mother as she cared for nuclear and extended family members, people in the community and at church; it seemed like she was always taking care of people with a smile and a look of contentment. In the more than 30 years that she worked as a pediatric nurse, I looked forward to the one time in the year she was allowed to take me to work. Without realizing it, my admiration for my mother developed into a desire to help people and this influenced my dream to become a nurse. The final factor that defined my aspiration was the 14-year Liberian civil war; during this time I saw firsthand how much suffering people were going through with shortage in hospitals, doctors and nurses. A lot of people died because of poor health care and lack of qualified health care professionals.

I choose nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness, and the caring for the individual and the family.

Nursing is an excellent career choice, where an individual acquires great gratitude while attending to others necessities. If someone is constantly trying to improve themselves and wanting to be challenged in life, “as nurses, we face tremendous challenges and often see and do things that are extraordinary” (Ulrich xix). By becoming a registered nurse the individual will make a difference. Nursing allows an individual to continuously be benefiting a fellow human being, not only with the patient but with their families as well, having the opportunity to becoming someone especial in the patient’s life. I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is promising. It is a field that will always be necessary. People will always need people to care for them when they cannot care for themselves. I believe that I can adequately provide this care.

I want to become a nurse because as a baby I had many difficulties in coming to this world. From being eight months premature and breech, my mother had a hard time giving birth to me. She had to fly from the island of Kauai to Oahu to give birth to me and because I was eight months premature I almost didn't survive. I would not be here today if it weren't for the nurses at Kapiolani Medical Center who took care of me and nursed me into a healthy little baby. These nurses helped me fight for my life and when I was discharged, they gave me a little green doll that I still hold onto until this very day. For this reason, I have the desire to work hard and become the neonatal nurse that I always wanted to be. Being a neonatal nurse will give me the opportunity to

challenges in this career. I choose the career of being a nurse because I enjoy helping other people.

I have chosen to become a Registered Nurse because, I like to be challenged, I want situations to be difficult so I can use my skills and knowledge to solve them to the best of my ability. I have the drive and determination to become a nurse and care for others in different situations every day. I want to make a difference in people’s life, and I know being a nurse will help me fulfill this want.

Growing up my mother worked as a nurse which consequently built a strong respect as well as admiration for the profession. However, up until the day I left for college I never considered this career for me. As a last resort I made checklist to try and determine the major that best fit my aspirations for the future. Nursing immediately jumped out at me and since then I have been infatuated with the goal of becoming a nurse.

I chose nursing as my profession because I always have had a desire to serve and educate others and nursing, which has given me an opportunity to do that. Nursing is a rewarding career that gives the greatest opportunity to save lives, comfort, and care for them. The nursing profession tends to run in my family and have inspired me to become a nurse as well. This profession is the most demanding and helpful profession in the world.

Since childhood, I have always wanted to be a nurse. Nursing comes naturally for me. It is my passion to show empathy and compassion indiscriminately. I am already in a position of providing care in the role of caregiver, but a higher education will expand my scope of practice and feed my passion to grow professionally.

Recently I have spent my time researching the paths I would like to take to further my education in the medical field. While trying to discover my path and myself, I have come to the decision of pursuing the career of a Registered Nurse. This decision was not taken lightly, infact it was hard. There are so many things I could be in this world from a doctor to a zoologist and I choose to be a Registered Nurse.

The nursing career was of interest to me because I like to help as many people as I can and make them feel better. It is also very exciting to me because there is always something new to learn and it never gets boring. Also the nursing field is not based on one level of care. There is a broad variety of care that one could go into. When I was little I would always tell my dad or anyone that asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up that I wanted to be a doctor. As I got older I realized that being a doctor had too much responsibility and they hardly spent any time with their families. With nurses they are still held responsible for a lot but are still able to spend time with family. I have a cousin that is a registered nurse in the

Earning MSN degree would allow me to strengthen my existing skills to better serve and assist the patient populations. With the rise in co-morbid conditions, there is greater need for promoting health, preventing and managing diseases, as well as, differential diagnosis. The flexibility in this career enables me to provide care through evidence-based practice on various populations and ethnicity in a career that continues to grow with endless opportunities to practice.

One of my main goal for my future is passionate in everything i do and do the things i desire the most .Pursuing a degree in Nursing has always been a lifetime’s aspiration . Careers in Nursing contributed to those in need and creates a bond patients . Its always something that perceived that it would draw my attention . During the years , of me serving in the nursery at my church it made realize the potential have for caring people. Out of any other career i believe nursing would fit me best for me .
